as some may know I needed a new faucet on my sink since my landlord bought the cheapest thing he could which was made of plastic.
I went to the habitat for humanity resell store and got a new faucet attached to a horrid sink but the faucet was extremely nice with a sprayer hose as well...my sink did not need to be replaced and it had a third hole for the sprayer that the faucet that was there did not have...so in essence I had an extra hole in sink that was not used.
When I installed the faucet I did a poor job and it was leaking at the sprayer hose....I did not use teflon plumbers tape on these connections and as result I had to redo it...so tonight I decided I had to redo everything...also the sprayer hose connection was not tightening and was spinning when I turned the nut under it even with a friend holding the sprayer hose piece.
So I took the sink off the countertop so I could redo everything right. It was so much easier with the sink off the counter top rather than reaching under and around the sink...I got everything tightened including the sprayer hose which I think I had slightly misthreaded when doing it from underneath....
so now I have my box fan blowing under the sink to dry off the wood areas so I can again check for leaks...I think/feel this time there will be no leaking under there.
I am glad I got it going now...I can again run my dishwasher and not worry about leaks...the reason for the new sink was so I could hook up my dishwasher which the plastic faucet would not hold....this nice faucet is solid metal and is able to hold the connector for the dishwasher and worked great the other night having run my first load of dishes in it before maintenance man came into house.

Great Work, Lucky!
I do as much as I can by myself, and even installed garbage disposals before, but not a whole sink. Congratulations on getting it done!

I wish I could fix my leaky faucet. I might try to fix simple things but I can never find my tools and then when I find them I might not be strong enough to use them. I wish I could replace a broken door knob. What is the worse for me is not being able to get up to the ceiling to change burnt out light bulbs. I can unscrew and screw in a light bulb but I can't climb.

Way to go! Smart thing to just redo it. Yay for no leaks! Proud of you for not putting it off and taking care of it right off. I do a lot of household repairs myself. Hubby was a plumber when we first married and I learned a lot. I can do most small things. Hubby does the bigger things, with my help of course. Nice to know that in this house the management co will take care of these type of things!

Maintenance people are supposed to do things. If they don't them I do if I can. But replacing a tap is beyond me.

My dad taught me that doing minor maintenance things myself was not only a way to save money, but a way to boost my self esteem. I remember feeling so proud of myself when I did simple repairs to my first home. Later I learned to do minor auto repairs and that also boosted my self esteem. At one point one of my brothers & I built a boat trailer from a kit together in my parents garage. My dad was extremely proud, not only that his daughter was capable, but that his children were able to work so well together.
As I get older, I am less inclined to do everything myself, preferring to hire someone else or leave it to Hubby. But there is still plenty I know I can do should the need arise.

I used to work on cars all the time for friend of mine and we did it together....I learned to rebuild my own engine in a car and did so...but today I hire people to do that because it is a lot of work and I hate making mistakes or taking the time to do the work both.
I can do many things myself and will but some I prefer others do...the electric issues anywhere are someone elses problems...I never really work on electricity issues
