My table is piled! I really need to clear it this weekend. It 's piled about two feet high with mostly kitchen appliances. pot and pans and gadgetts that I haven't/can't put away in the cabinets. It's like kitchen Kudzu. It's even spread to the smaller table nearby and the bar. If anyone has a piled table like mine please post it here(that is if you feel like sharing.) And tell me how high it is. And are things sliding and hitting the floor (or not.) Thanks!

Hey def6 My table has a few piles on it taking up about quarter of it. I sorted it out a couple of days ago but the remains on it are a problem as the area it needs to go to is the office. And to my horror I went to the office just a moment ago(where the dining table things should go!)and pulled out a box only to find the darned mice have had a good go at everything ...it left me in tears and scattered and has mussed up my plans to do other work this weekend. I feel I have to stop the little boogers from continuing to wreak havoc in that area. And it is such a huge task over there. Overwhelming. Thinking of your spreading table surface...it's strange how things spread. Defending (and maintaining my kitchen) for some weeks now made me realise if I leave just one thing where it should not be it appears to magnetically attract other things! Not doing that has stopped accumulation there. I hope you find another challenger so you can motivate each other on the table clearing. I keep looking at mine and long for the moment that I can sit down there with my family and enjoy a meal together. Good luck with sorting yours out!

I will work on my table this week-end, probably tomorrow but not sure. It will be done by bedtime Sunday night.
I have a monitor on it not in use, and a bunch of junk with no homes. I will either find it a home or pitch it.

Dear def6~ i actually started today on my table in chat. I found a receipt from 2006! It is not really high but i don't know where to put the stuff. We need room to do homework and it would be nice to sit down to dinner! I found a few inches here and there.I would like to keep going on it. I envision a tablecloth and a flowering plant in the centre. There are bent hangars my son used to make a slingshot, a computer keyboard, a cute night light that looks like Noah's ark that i have been meaning to give away for ten years. bags of lego. I threw out a cute little blue toy. other than that just wrappers and receipts. I would like to join you in your challenge and have it done by Monday? at least half so we can do homework and eat. the other problem is a water crock that i don't really need or want and i don't know where to put it.

When my dining room table gets cluttered up, I mentally divide it in four. I call them "quadrants".Because I'm a Star Trek fan, I call them alpa, beta, gamma and delta quadrants. I'll tell hubby " I'm going into Alpha Quasrant now." I work on one at a time. Seeing even one quarter of the table cleared gives me enthusiasm to continue or at least come back to it the next day.

Thank you for responding fluffernut, rayshellya, serindipity and petuli . So far I have washed and put away most of the items that I plan to keep from the table. In a few minutes , when I get the nerve ...I will attempt to clean around the table and underneath the table cloth. There are probably more items that I have to go through underneath there. I have invisioned (like serindipity) being able to sit at the table with bare feet and a clean floor underneath and I would like a clean tablecloth on the table.

I'm not working on the table yet, but am in the dining room. I hope that counts. I had the table cleared this past winter, but have been using it to do crafty things, gift wrapping, etc. and it seems to have 'drifted' on its own. (There is another, more casual table for meals near a window.) I may get to the table top in the dining room later today, but I'm not sure. What is on it is a mostly 'new' layer, and probably not much stuff with emotional charge. I'm hoping anyway. There are two old sewing machines on it, neither of which works well. Not sure what to do about them. Need to figure which works best, then dump the other. Maybe I'll vacuum the carpet then start on the table.....

Hey Betsy Marie , Thanks for responding. I am having the same issue as you on the table . It's not just the table it's the floor and once you start pulling from- there is a lot there. I trying to push my way right through it. I'm going now to clean out the back of my van so I can have a lot of space to put items to donate. I hope that I will have clarity on what I need and what I don't need. Best wishes to you in your efforts.

I know I said I'd do mine this week-end, but ended up working with hubby both days. It's one of tomorrows projects now.

Thanks for responding Rayshellya and Lizziejean! I have recovered many objects that I have found homes for. I have cleaned out my van to make room for donations. There is also a very large bag of plasic bags that I will put in the plastic bag bin. This has turned out to be a very large undertaking. I'm gonna keep plugging away and chipping away at it. No matter what.

Hey I'm still working on this challenge. I'm going through my kitchen cabinets culling anything that I can to make room for the stuff that I actually use. We just ate at Mcdonalds because there is stuff stacked on my food preparation area. I'm resting right now, but I'll get back to it.
