ANGER!!

Sure I have been angry with myself over letting things get out of hand, especially now that I am trying to get rid of things so I can fix my house and move. I can now see the disrepair and it is so much worse than it would have been if I had maintained it. But we just have to make sure that our anger and shame do not prevent us from taking action and doing something about it now. Good for you for realizing the extent of the problem.

ANGER!!

Dazymae, use your anger to start working your way out of your squalor! Use it to help you throw stuff away, and to help you figure out a maintenance schedule that will keep your place clean. It's the only good use of anger--otherwise, feel it and let it go.
I feel sorry when I think of all the years that passed while I was uncomfortable in my own home, and I wonder why I couldn't have come to this realization years earlier. But I didn't, and it doesn't help me to dwell on it, it'll only make me feel worse. I'm making huge strides in digging out now, and the more time passes the more clarity I have about how to make my home better. That makes me feel good.
For whatever reasons, you were living one way, now you can start living another way. The emotions you're feeling can be the catalyst for that change.
