One of my biggest issues is taking care of repairs in a timely manner. I am almost paralyzed by fear - not of repairmen coming into my home - but by calling them up and asking them to. I worry about things like getting overcharged or having a little problem turned into a big one (thanks mom for the paranoia gene).
The roof started leaking during the storm last night. We discovered it this morning and my husband asked me to call someone. I was a bit panicky. I rememered a roofer I used in my old house and bit the bullet and called. He came by this afternoon and fixed the leak. He is coming back next week to fix another known trouble spot we had put off fixing. I feel like I just climbed Mt Everest.
Now maybe I'll call an electrician and have him move an inconsequencial outlet - I have been thinking about it for over a year. But I don't want to rush it.

What a relief to get the roof fixed. No more worrying. You're not alone. I nursed the plumbing here for a good 18 months before breaking down and calling. Didn't want to deal with my senile landlady (Bless her...), and didn't want to deal with plumber. Boy was I stupid. I'm loving these pipes now! Next up is having the car detailed. By the end of October. Or November. Maybe. Anne.

Congratulations, Mom-of-Girls! This is a huge accomplishment. I too, am resistant to picking up the phone and just making the call. The CALL is the hurdle! Even though the people are always nice on the phone. Glad to hear you did it, and I understand how great you are feeling.
