We gave the power scooter (which was my fatherinlaws) to a friend's husband and it is blessing him because he's house bound, and had been bed bound except during the week when his provider comes in. This scooter is so good that he can be comfortable in it for long periods of time -- he is recovering from cancer and severe illness. My MIL is really happy (it was her wish) that someone who really needs it got it. Meanwhile, back at our home, we now have more space. We had been having to plug it in every so often, and keep it dusted (well.... we tried) and take care of the legs, the book, the plug etc. etc. So now my husbands' office is much much easier for him to manage. Plus things like that really don't do well if they sit for years and years unused. It's so encouraging and such a blessing that my husband and his Mom were able to let that chair go -- it was sad and even I felt it a lot when they lifted it into the truck -- but the chair -- although it does remind us of Pop -- certainly isn't the only way we can remember him. It has been 8 months since he died. Well. Everything has a sad side and a blessing side and the blessing is for the man who is so gravely ill -- they told us he got outside for the first time (his son in law built a little mini ramp) Sunday and they told us he seems more motivated to recover.

You and your family did a very good deed. So glad that your friend's husband was able to get outside.

Chris, I think anything that can help disabled or sick people is a GREAT thing to loan or give away. One friend has my DH's bedrail, commode, transport chair, walker, rollator, most of bed pads, etc. Another has more bed pads , elastic waist pants, gait belt, sock putter onner, etc. for her son . My DH would have wanted this & so do I. Bless you. catcat

Dear Chris,
They learned they can give away the item, and it is not the same as giving away the person.
Good work, all.

What a very nice story. Thanks for sharing.
It's a great reminder that when we get rid of usable items, at least three good things can happen.
-It is gone from our house, -the nice/good item gets use, care and love again, -and the person who receives it gets benefit and can cherish it as much if not more than we did.

How wonderful, Chris, that you now have more space and that your MIL, your husband and you are happy to have done this good deed. Enjoy the free space.
