I am new here but I did used to post on Squalor Survivors some years ago. I do live in squalor but can usually contain it to my bedroom. This really just means that the rest of the house is ok while my room becomes nearly unliveable at times. I need to get this in order because in just a few weeks I will begin working as a live-in nanny. No cleaning is required for the job and I will have the whole basement to myself but I really don't want the family to see me like this. I also need to get more organized because I recently started my own Mary Kay business and while it is going extremely well, I am often looking for paperwork I need. So, that is my motivation for changing. I look forward to connecting with others as I struggle through this once I live with others. Jess

Welcome, Jess! And good for containing the squalor to one room! But I hear you about needing to move forward in making it even better.
So lovely to see the people from Squalor Survivors posting, as well as the new "faces"!

hey jess - nice to have you here, maybe this will be a good change for you living as a live in nanny, i think you will be more motivated to help clean yourself while you are helping others even though the job does not require cleaning. Good luck to you

Only one messy area, a thriving business, and starting a new job-- it sounds like you are doing well. Welcome!
