I have never posted on-line and I'm hoping this message makes it to the right place. I am working through Level 3 Squalor. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Is anyone local and interested in meeting as a group?

Welcome to S.O.S., Alu. I am glad you found us. You will find a lot of support here as you dig your way out of squalor. Just keep posting and you will make a lot of friends. Although I am local, I am not able to join a group at this time. But I am curious as to what you have in mind as far as creating such a group. Again, welcome aboard.

Welcome, alu . Glad you posted. Many of us here are more than a little shy about revealing our IRL (in real life) names, and tend to keep our locations general. It is probably in part the usual general precaution about revealing too much online to people you don't really know except by their own descriptions of themselves. The other part may be our general reluctance to be identified because of the subject that unites us, squalor. Some here have not had anyone in their homes in a long time, and want to stay unidentified by their family, friends, or employers. That is why it might be difficult to set up a support group that meets at each others homes. Meanwhile, even though the support here is virtual, it is nevertheless very real for all of us. Just knowing that others out here are in the same struggle helps. Many go on Listzilla and post to dos and tadas, cheering each other's accomplishments. Some prefer to go to the chat room and challenge each other to accomplish things for a certain amount of time, then come back and celebrate what got done. Whatever method you choose, you will give and receive support for your journey here. Please also don't overlook getting medical help if your depression continues. messymimi

Welcome, Alu.
I am local as well, but not interested in a group. However, there IS a group called "Clutterer's Anonymous" (a 12-step style program) that does meet in San Francisco "in real life." If you are interested, here's the info:
Sundays 1:30 - 2:30 PM The Alano Club, 2nd Floor 1748 Market Street at Octavia Blvd. next to 101 Freeway entrance.
Clutterer's Anonymous has a website you could check out, and there are probably local chapters that meet in other Bay Area cities.
I hope you enjoy being here--there's a ton of support available from people who truly understand!

Welcome, Alu! As I began to work my way out of squalor, I found some real life friends who deal with it, too. It is amazing how well we can hide our secrets, when people close by might be able to help!
Good luck with the local support group. And keep posting here...I think that you will find that it really helps!
