Good morning, well yesterday wasn't very productive at home. I just have to accept that on my busier days I won't get much done around here--I was wondering why my feet were hurting last night and saw that my pedometer was almost at 30,000 steps, that's why. Today's turning out to be pretty busy too since I suddenly find I need to do some shopping/post office as well as my walks. Today's the last decent weather day, it's going to be hot for a while after today. Fortunately, my air conditioner is in and ready to go! Diane

Hi, Diane Glad to hear your a/c is in and ready to go. We're going to have some unusually cool days for this time of year. The warmer weather will return all too soon, however. Have a great day! saf

Saffron, so nice to hear from you. Yes, our weather is going up and down too, almost 30 degree differences from day to day, I have to check the weather multiple times per day otherwise I have no idea how to dress when I go out.

Good morning! I had no morning obligations today so slept a little late. I have high hopes for getting a lot done today, although I now have 3 walks in a row and it's very hot out there, so I'll see how I feel when I come back from them. Di can you get some soft foam (like a sofa cushion) that you could cut into strips and place around the airconditioner?

Hi Lion, yes, foam rubber is exactly what I need, I'm trying to figure out where to get some without spending much money. The air conditioner came with two little strips of it but they're for putting between the expandable edges and the sides of the windows. It leaves a gap a couple of cubic inches big on each lower side. I should have been thinking of this all winter, I bet I could have found some on my alley walks!
Sunshine, how nice of you to stop by! I've been noticing your many posts because of your cute kookaburra icon (I love birds!) I'm glad to see you getting so much out of the site (and giving back as well).

Hi Diane!
I was looking through your daily lists.
Under the category "Apartment Maintenance", I notice you have the word "Return" before the name of each room. What does that mean?

Well, looks like today is going to be a day when my internet goes in and out. So, my goal will be: when my internet is out, take that opportunity to be productive, rather than letting it throw me off course. Somehow I feel like if I'm not connected, it's a wasted day--when of course, it's probably the other way around, at least sometimes!
Lion, I use the word return instead of maintain, because to me, maintain means you have finished a room, it's the best way you can imagine it to be. When I was thinking in terms of maintain, I could never get inspired to do anything, because only a couple of my small rooms are really the way I want them to be, and that doesn't even take into account that they still need repairs done. As a result, I never did any cleaning or straightening up at all, because I felt I was a long way from my goal. Then one day I realized that if I "backslid" in some rooms and made progress in others, I would never move forward. So, my goal now is that when I have a room looking "okay", the goal the next day is to "return" it to the way it was yesterday. Doesn't matter if I still have projects to get done in that room, or if it's not company ready, I still want to maintain the progress I've made and not backslide. The word maintain just doesn't work for me for this purpose.
Since I've started using the idea of returning a room to where it was, I'm much more likely to straighten up at the end of the day, because I have a mental picture of what it looked like yesterday--I might not be able to make it perfect, but at least I can return it to where it was.

Well, I'm happy with today even though I didn't do much on my list. Such a relief to have the sunporch done, and I did laundry, dishes, and several little things.
Tomorrow I have outside stuff to do, and it's going to be HOT. Monday I'll be visiting my sister, and it'll be hot again, but not as hot as Sunday. So I'm not anticipating getting a whole lot done, but we'll see!
