It's 2:15 and I'm still waiting to do the walk that was supposed to happen between 12:00 and 1:00. At least I'm being productive, usually when this happens I don't do anything while I'm waiting. I'm half way done with my dishes and I figured out the estimated tax payment form--what a nightmare--that took longer than I thought it would. I have a walk later this afternoon so can't start laundry until after that. Diane Hi Diane -- I hope today is smoother + that you have fun at your sisters!

I've been home since mid-afternoon but just haven't had much energy to do a lot. I've been working on book stuff on and off but that's about it! I'm going to bed early, hopefully tomorrow I'll wake up full of energy!

Hi Chris, thanks for stopping by. On Thursday I woke up with a little pain in my neck, like from a sore muscle, but not enough to bother me. Yesterday when I woke up the left side of my neck down into my shoulder hurt so much that it took me 5 minutes to maneuver myself out of bed--the muscles that were sore were the ones needed to lift my head and the upper half of my body. I had to sort of slide out of bed on my stomach and then stand up. I had two walks and was able to do them, but couldn't turn my head to the left at all and couldn't lift my left arm above the level of my shoulder--very weird. It hurt a lot during the night again last night but now that I've managed to get out of bed again and move around for the last couple of hours it's a little better today. I have no idea what I did to cause this, I don't remember pulling anything while awake. So, needless to say I didn't do much yesterday, I did do book research online since sitting at the computer doesn't hurt. Today I only have one two hour event to work at, it involves moving stuff around to set up but nothing heavier than a folding chair, so I think it'll be fine. The bad thing is, I can't take any pain pills anymore because I took a very low dose of Ibuprofen for too long and probably gave myself an ulcer! So I've stopped taking it altogether. I will have to work on my apartment today, even if it means moving slowly. Most rooms look okay but the kitchen is messy again, and I've been putting off the current cleaning step for at least a week now! Diane

Hi Diane I'm sorry about your neck and shoulder pain -- that sounds very painful. I wonder if heat would help like a hot water bottle or warm towel or heat pad? Hopefully your work event today will go okay and you can rest after. Take care!

Wow, do I feel better today. My neck still hurts and I can still only turn my head a little to the side, but it feels way, way better. I was able to sit up to get out of bed this morning!
I didn't do much yesterday, I was able to do the event okay but by the time I came home I was in a lot of pain so I watched my tv shows while sorting through books and coupon inserts, and I sat on the couch and read about half a book! So, I'd better get stuff back in order today.

Oh well, no list for today. I had a morning walk, then two mid-day walks. When I came home, after eating lunch, I decided to tackle my storage room in the basement. Last Friday there was an email from a building board member saying that the pipes in the storage basement were going to be wrapped with insulation, and everyone's storage unit had to be left unlocked and have a path free through the center of it so pipes above could be worked on. This will happen this coming Thursday--well, Friday and Saturday I had the neck pain that would not have let me do anything down there, tomorrow I'm going to my sister's and Wednesday afternoon I have another dog day care visit all afternoon--so instead of putting it off until Wednesday night (my first plan ) I went down there today. Of course, the entire thing was packed full, and for the last year I've been saying I need to get in there and throw some stuff away, but never did. I pulled everything out of there, I threw a few things in the dumpster, a few in the recycle bin, and I finally got rid of a folding table and chairs that were in my storage unit when I moved here 15 years ago! They were the old-fashioned yellow vinyl kitchen set kind, which are sort of in demand now by people who like retro stuff--but these really were in bad shape--I don't think they could have been nicely restored even with a lot of work. So I set them out in the alley. By the time I came out with my next batch of stuff for the dumpster, about 10 minutes later, a metal collector was picking them up in his truck! I was glad to see that, we're really not supposed to put stuff next to the dumpster because then the company charges extra, but so much stuff is picked up by scavengers when you do that it seems worth a try. I brought my fans upstairs, since, unfortunately, I'll need them soon. And, I also found 4 shopping bags full of books that I had earmarked for donation but put down there when my entryway was stacked high with donation books and I had no more room for them. I totally forgot they were down there--so I brought them upstairs--at least 2 bags will fit in my cart for Friday's trip to the thrift store, and the other 2 will go the next trip after that. I still ended up with too much stuff for a clear center, so I left some stuff out in the common area and sent a message to the board member telling him what I did--if that's not acceptable, he can figure out what to do with my stuff in the meantime. Some of the items out there are my old computer/monitor, so I also asked him about the possibility of collecting stuff like that in the building for safe disposal later--we'll see what response I get. The whole thing took me only about an hour and a half--if asked ahead of time how long I thought it would take I would have said--about 4 hours? Another job that I built up to be more than it was. I'll still have to put stuff back in when the work is done but that won't take long. I am kind of tired after lugging all that stuff around though, I hope I didn't aggravate my neck pain--it feels okay now but this seems to be the kind of pain that you don't feel until later on. I have to do a load of laundry tonight and make sure I'm ready for the trip to my sister's, then night stuff, and an early bedtime. I'm so pleased with myself for getting the storage unit done today instead of waiting until the last minute! Diane

Hi Chris! I seem to have one productive day and then a nonproductive one! I got home from my sister's mid-afternoon but on the train on the way home I started getting a really bad headache, so when I got home I spent another afternoon sitting on the couch dozing. I can't take ibuprofen anymore so I just had to wait for it to go away, and I only felt good at about 7 this evening. After eating dinner I starting reading emails and decided to go through some of the messages that I had been saving to read carefully (book related, of course!) so I was able to delete several of those. And that's going to be the extent of what I accomplish today--lately it seems I have a lot of things that happen that I can use as excuses to not get anything done. But I had a nice visit with my sister--I probably won't go see her next week since it's going to be a rare "busy" (comparably) pet care week for me with a few people out of town for Easter. I will make a list tomorrow for sure, one of these days I'll get working on my apartment again. Diane
