I can't believe this forum exists.
I have always been cyclically messy. But my house is now worse than I ever thought possible, and it's hard to even think about.
I haven't had anyone inside my house in about a year (and the last time was accompanied by frenzied stuffing junk into closets to hide it). My kitchen is now pretty much unusable and I hate to go in it.
Recently I have made a couple of attempts to get things under control. I have two rooms that are almost clean. But I absolutely will not admit this to anyone I know--so maybe confessing to the internet is a good step toward accountability.
My plan is to get my house clean, and then move to a new place for a fresh start with new rules, and no junk. I definitely need to figure out where the local dump is, because half of the contents of the house are headed there.

Welcome, Ctriz.
It sounds like you have a plan, determination, and a good start. I saw your post in Working in Threes. This thread works for me and here's wishing it works for you, too.

It's interesting that this thread was bumped for a check-up a couple of days before I came back looking for help. I did succeed in cleaning up my old place. I moved, and in the process I got rid of tons of stuff. I brought about fifteen boxes with me that did not get sorted, but that was a tiny fraction of what was there before. I have a sense of what's in those but still haven't put in the time to sort and throw away. My new place is awesome, and easier to keep clean. The first couple of months here were really good. But, since I am back, you can guess there's another part to the story. I got mono a couple of months ago, and stopped doing much of anything because I have been so, so tired while I've been sick. The house is getting out of hand, and now that I am feeling a little better I will be in chat every evening until I get this crap cleaned up! I've run out of dishes again, and the fridge is seriously scary, but it's not like the biohazard kitchen I had before.
