Whew!!!! Just finished the floor FINALLY!!! My arm muscles are sore, the palms of my hands are red and calloused ........ but it's DONE!!! A clean floor for the first time in forever!! Got a little funky there towards the end and started singing "It's a Hard Knock Life" from "Annie" as I scrubbed .......... but that's ok. Wondering now about maintenance. Figuring I'll sweep every day and mop once a week or so. What should I use to mop? Someone told me vinegar & water, someone else I know uses mop n' glow. Any suggestions?? I don't EVER want it to get that bad again! Yay on me!!!!!!!!! Carrie Fabulous! For maintenance, sweeping and periodic mopping should do the trick. You could also just vacuum, rather than sweep. Script only vacuums, never bothering with a broom, as I recall. I use a broom sometimes and a vacuum other times, depending on if the throw rugs need a good sucking-up. Mopping I usually do at least once and often twice per week. I have read of some who mop kitchen floors daily. When my kids were young and we had mud-tracking-dogs in the household, I may have done that myself. That was so long and far ago, that I cannot be sure I was that diligent for very long. But for the most part, I have no need to mop daily. But if I needed to mop daily it would be easy enough because I keep the mop easily accessible and it is easy to use. I use one of those Swiffer mops with the spray solution bottle built into the handle. The mere push of a button sends out a spray and the cleaner hits the floor as I push the mop forward. Pretty simple. All I have to do is change the pad occassionally and replace the batteries when they wear out. I've had this thing about a year, I think and I did replace the batteries once. The cleaning solution comes in a bottle already mixed, so I don't even mix a solution. If I could refill the bottle, the solution I would use is vinegar & water. But I can't refill it, so I use the brand that fits the mop. At first I didn't like the cleaning solution, but I've become used to it and now I have no complaints.

Almost there in the kitchen!! Finished the last 2 cupboards last night and am working on windows today. Then for the weekend I'll just have 1)inside fridge 2)inside oven 3)cabinet doors and 4)walls & ceilings. That's it!!! You can't imagine how nice it is to walk into my kitchen now, after 6.5 years of squalor!! Amazing!! Opening the cupboards & drawers is a thrill, putting groceries away is a pleasure. Who knew............. Carrie
