What I found in my kitchen junk drawer:
-coupons from 2004 -a coil of picture hanging wire -menus from take-out places that no longer exist -numerous ancient ketchup packets -a baggie with miscellaneous screws in it -a petrified roll of lifesavers -a cordless phone battery for a phone we no longer have -a box of razor blades -several packages of chop sticks from a Chinese restaurant -2 packets of fresh flower food -several notes with phone numbers on them, but no name -a dried up paint brush -several grocery shopping lists AND.............. -a tube of FAKE BLOOD from several Halloweens ago!!!!!
Do you have a junk drawer in your kitchen?? What is in it, do you know??? Take a look, it could be interesting!!
Mine is now EMPTY and I'm going to put it to good use!!

Carrie--I'm new and I notice that people are talking about levels "get to level 0" or "I'm at a level 2". I have decided that the kitchen is where I need to begin and doing all the dishes would be a grand place to start since I can't see past anything!

I'm moving right along on my kitchen project! Have gotten a lot done the past 5 days. Today dd has gone apple picking with her Dad and I'm off, so I have the entire day to myself! Planning to make great strides in the kitchen today!
Will be in chat all day in case anyone wants to work along with me!

Great work saveit!! You have a good start, now keep it up!! If I can do it, you can do it!!
Today I have so far gotten my kitchen table cleared off and 1/4 of the floor washed so far. Plan to get up to 1/2 the floor by the end of the day anyway, if not finish it. It is taking a while, since I'm having to scrub on hands & knees, it's that dirty. The part that's been done looks great and smells so nice! Incentive to keep going!
It really helps for me to have this list to check off. Anyone else who thinks they might find it easier to do it this way, I encourage you to try it! You don't have to make and exhaustive list like I did, you could break it down into 4 or 5 goals in one list, and just go from there.
Thanks for your comments & support, the cheering on REALLY makes a difference! I feel like this is POSSIBLE for the first time since I've lived here! ONWARD>>>>>>>>>>!!!!

Did a few things yesterday, but mostly worked on washing the floor. I took small sections at a time and scrubbed on hands & knees with a brush. Then let it soak a little and scrubbed over it one more time. Then mopped with clear hot water to get up the dirty suds. Then let that dry, then started another section. It took me most of the day, and I'm 2/3 done with it at this point. My arm muscles are sore! But the part that is done looks great and it smells so nice! From now on I am determined to sweep daily and mop once a week to keep it from ever getting this bad again!!
Going now to do a bit, hoping to get it done by late morning so I can move on to something else.
As you can see by my checklist, I'm nearly DONE!! Just a few more things to do ........ I have to work next 4 days, so may not get it all done till the weekend but already it's soooo much nicer to be in the kitchen!

Whew!!!! Just finished the floor FINALLY!!! My arm muscles are sore, the palms of my hands are red and calloused ........ but it's DONE!!! A clean floor for the first time in forever!! Got a little funky there towards the end and started singing "It's a Hard Knock Life" from "Annie" as I scrubbed .......... but that's ok.
Wondering now about maintenance. Figuring I'll sweep every day and mop once a week or so. What should I use to mop? Someone told me vinegar & water, someone else I know uses mop n' glow. Any suggestions?? I don't EVER want it to get that bad again!
Yay on me!!!!!!!!!

Wooo Carrie! Getting that floor scrubbed was a real triumph! You've done so much in that kitchen! And you gave me a good laugh with your musical selection.
