It looks like the attachment preview system currently isn't functioning on the server that our forum is hosted on. Instead of showing pictures, attachments try to download to viewer's hard drive.
After being made aware of it, staff member Ricky Zyvoloski brought this to the attention of ProBoards' system admins so that it can be corrected.
Unfortunately, any attachments made during the downtime (since at least March 4) will not have a preview associated with them, even after it's back online. So once the system is back online, you'll want to re-attach the images so that they will have previews.
Ricky will let us know once he's heard back on this. He apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.

When it comes up I still have the option to open or save. I don't have to save it (or anyone else's photos - I have tested this) to my hard drive. But that doesn't stop anyone else from saving to their hard drives. I don't think we want to let people do that, of course. So I think it would be best to avoid using the attachment function for photos that we don't want others to actually keep (squalor photos, for example). Avoid it at least until this function is working properly again, or until SOS moves to v5, where the attachment function IS working correctly.
Please note: In our Photos section our copyright warning is not coming up for the attachments linked during this glitch, therefore people can save those to their hard drives. Even though they have to be registered to access the Photos section, it still means that your photo attachments posted during this period (while the function is malfunctioning) are not protected.
I highly recommend NOT using the photo attachment function to post photos you don't want other people to copy to their hard drives (squalor photos, for example) until ProBoards gets this fixed or until we convert to v5, where the function is working correctly.

Unfortunately, any attachments made during the downtime (since at least March 4) will not have a preview associated with them, even after it's back online. So once the system is back online, you'll want to re-attach the images so that they will have previews. I don't think one can re-attach images when modifying a post. At least I don't see that option when trying to modify my own posts. So it would mean a new post added on to a potentially oldish thread. Of course we're only talking about a few days, so the threads aren't that old. But I thought that when you previewed attachments they disappeared. Didn't it used to work that way, or am I forgetting? I don't use that function very often in v4.5, so I could be wrong. Anyway, I just tried to remove the attachments from a couple of my posts from 6 days ago, and it doesn't seem to work the way I remembered it working. Oh, well, for me it's not that big an issue. As an admin I can delete attachments another way, but the regular member cannot. They will have to ask the admins to do that for them. If you want any of your attachments deleted, please contact us and include a link to the post with the attachment so we can delete the exact attachment you want deleted.
