I washed a load today and it is in the dryer, but a flat stack of clean clothes to fold and two baskets of clothes to fold have been hanging around for 3 weeks. I will fold this evening while I watch TV.

Yay! I was looking for this thread, and papermoon found it for me! Thanks so much, papermoon! Now I've bookmarked it, so I won't have to search again. I need to do laundry pretty much every day. Because of cats and allergies, I keep sheets on my couches and blankets on my tables, and wash them frequently. I wash our bed sheets frequently. My family does not have a lot of clothes, so if I don't keep right on top of laundry, people run out of things to wear. I was keeping up with one load a day (everything together) until I started covering the furniture. Now it's usually two loads a day. Laundry, dishes, and litter boxes are the bare essentials of my housekeeping, and now I have a daily thread for each one! I've recently caught all the way up on laundry, and didn't do any today. I was too busy food shopping and cooking. But I will be trying to check in here every day.

Well done larataylor. Thanks for the inspiration to keep up with the laundry. I have just finished putting clean clothes away. No ironing though!

I just gathered a few clothes from the floor and started a load in the washer. Dryer is empty. Folding table is fairly full of DD's clothes, mostly rolled-up sweats, leggings, jammies, etc. She keeps that kind of thing in a fabric hanging shelf thing in her closet, but it's full. I want to figure out some storage right in the laundry room for her excess clothes. I don't think she has too much, considering she's a teenage girl--but her room is small and storage is quite limited. I can't put storage things on or up against the laundry room walls, because DD painted a gorgeous mural of birch woods and flying wood ducks on two walls in honor of her grandmother. She didn't ask me where was a good place for a mural, . She's generally of the mind that if she doesn't ask me, I can't say no. Fortunately her murals have gotten much better over the years!

I moved a stack of small shelves from the entryway into the laundry room closet for some of DD's overflow. I put the rolled up pants & jammies and underwear in there. I did like having it for gloves and hats in the entryway, but half the shelves just had random stuff on them that could go elsewhere. I put the hats and gloves in the top of the coat closet. A little harder to get to.
But one of my mantras is: It's Not Written in Stone. I can try this and see how it feels. So far, it feels good to have her stuff off the folding table and sorted into categories.
I have a load almost dry in the dryer, and the washer is filling up for another load. I LOVE being so caught up that I have to wait for clothes to make a load.

yesterday was laundry marathon day between my and my parent's clothes I did around 7 loads. I've already started on my 2nd load today. I do maintenance washing and the rest sits... I come home throw my uniforms in the wash with any other clothes worn (pajamas usually) and then I walk up to my bedroom and see the rest of it just sitting there, hanging out... I think today is a bag up and drop it off at the laundromat day... it's gotten bad recently.

anathelia - will people at the laundromat do it for you? I know people who pay to have that done, and I would recommend it if you can afford it! I picked up scattered clothing and towels and got a load going in the washer. DD did some laundry last night … she was asking me for uniforms, and I hadn't seen any … I think they got into her school bags and stayed there. So I guess she felt like it wasn't my fault for once, and did it herself. I was well caught up on everything, and the last couple days I've had trouble doing just the essentials.

I'm doing half loads now because I am caught up. When I start digging in a little more I'll start washing bedspreads, curtains and I'll wash some things that go into space bags. Naturally, they won't be half loads then but as far as what we wear , I hope I can stay caught up

My washing machine and dryer are both running. Three loads folded and put away. A bit worried about getting those other two loads taken care of before bedtime, but we will see.
