I'm pretty much caught up again, after letting the laundry go for a while and catching up again. I love being caught up. I've been ignoring the couches and beds until I'm all caught up. I just don't want to make a mountain of sheets on the floor in there … I'd rather have them getting dirtier on the couches and beds. A few days ago, though, I had guests, and didn't have the energy to change the couch sheets, and they were pretty bad, so I just took them off. Now I need to replace them before too much dander sinks into the upholstery. It's weird having the couches "bare" like this. My grand goal for winter is to muddle through and keep things tolerable.

I usually go to the laundry mat every two weeks and I did that last week. However, I fell in the mud Monday night and it was absolutely necessary to rinse the mud off and wash those clothes before the mud dried. I added all my other dirty clothes to that and now everything is clean, dry and put away.

I hate when I have something really yucky like that sit. Glad you got to it imamess. Great work being caught up larataylor! I am as usual BEHIND. Lots clean .... not folded or put away. Lots to wash. Machines are both running. Goal tonight ---- get 3 loads folded & put away.

I keep getting grease on my shirts when I cook. I've been trying to get the spots out with dish detergent, but it's not working. Maybe I should try some Dawn instead of the cheap stuff I usually buy? I've looked online for suggestions, and dish detergent seemed like the best one.
Any suggestions? I don't have an apron. I've often thought I should have one shirt just for cooking, but I never remember this before I start.

I bet Dawn would be good. On their webpage for uses for Dawn, that is one listed.
Well it was hard to determine "loads" in my pile but I am pretty sure 3 or 4 loads were put away last night. I need to tackle another 3 today, just to get myself caught up with what is clean (until I clean more of course!) Thank goodness it's Friday and I have Sat & Sun off. We have a busy Sunday, but I think tomorrow will be a good day to work on catching up.

My dog, Quin, LOVES laundry time. When I grab an armful of clothes, he runs to the washer and quivers with excitement. It is a front load washer, and when I open the lid, he sticks his head in the machine. I have to make him move to get the clothes into the machine. Then he runs to the pantry and prances until I get the laundry soap. He likes to watch the soap get put into the little dispenser. Then - oh joy - the machine is turned on. He comes and gets me when the clothes are finished washing because he likes the dryer even better. The cutest part is his little spin when the dryer filter is cleaned and put back into its slot. I have to admit washing the clothes is kinda fun with him around. I really dislike the folding and putting away part, oh well, three loads clean, one to fold and two to put away.

2bc4me -- You need to train that pooch on folding then. heehee!! I hate folding too. It wouldn't be so bad, but it always gets behind. And then when I try to do it, I always have interruptions and a "helper" that unfolds before I get put away.

mamaangie I have little helper too. He takes everything I fold apart and takes it out the drawer besides. I think it took a hour to fold and refold all the same five shirts. My grandson had a ball. Especially when the clothes go bye bye in the drawer and then he magically makes them reappear!

So.....definitely going to lose power tomorrow which will last for days or weeks...going to do all the laundry today that I possibly can. (Running out of clean underwear during an outage is NOT fun!) The generator will run the lights, stove, fridge and water pumps. Would really be taxing it to do laundry or run the dishwasher...

Hi Angie, Your comment reminds me of a video clip I saw on Facebook the other day where 2 different mums were trying to tidy up and put things away but were being hindered considerably by their children, both of whom were little girls, interestingly enough. One little girl was systematically throwing clothes out of a drawer as soon as her mum folded and put them in there, then climbing into the drawer, the other sat and moved some dirt her mum had swept up with the floor brush and one of them tipped out a whole bag of play bricks which her mum had just gathered up. The introduction to the clip said, 'This is why mums don't get anything done!' Did I read somewhere that your little boy is 3 now? Where do the years go? Gillian

gillian. I saw that video yesterday, even shared on Facebook. Of course watching it, that little girl was super cute. When it's your own kid, they look like the Tazmanian Devil. My son does have the nickname Taz. My oldest daughter (almost 25) was over the other night to help with the 16 yo with Down Syndrome. I asked that she assist in some laundry and cleaning up. She got to see what every day is like around here. Stop to help the 16 yo who is having a meltdown, then come back to find the 3.5 yo has gotten into a craft drawer full of ribbons and unspooled most of them. Then go back to help 16 yo and make her bed and see that oh yes Taz has tossed the rest of the laundry off the bed onto the floor.

That was some experience for a 25 year old, Angie! What were her thoughts after a day of that?
Sounds like Taz was having a real fun time.
You mention your 25 year old doing your 16 year old's washing for her - just wondering, would your 16 year old be able to do her own washing?

I am in desperate need of some laundry self discipline. I don't know why I hate doing laundry so much but I need to develop some basic good laundry habits that will carry me through when my motivation is at rock bottom. Which,as far as laundry is concerned, is always.
Going down right now to see what is in the washer and dryer and bring up and put away the things that I know are in a couple of baskets downstairs.
Motivation follows action. I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.
