You have been really busy candoToday was a minimum of tasks. I'm going back to taking one day a week off, excepting dishes since I still like to eat on a Sunday. A new phone book was delivered, so I tossed the old one. Looked at junk mail, tossed what was easily forgettable. I did retain 2 .... maybe dreaming over them will be i/l of any purchase. Certainly its a reminder to use what I have, or get rid of it.

I planned on skipping paperclutter challenge today, but I paid bills. I am excited to report that I think that I have bills and financial stuff on track so that I am moving forward and not just shuffling papers. I have a basket of items that I have collected in a basket so my goal this week is to handle 3 to 5 items a day depending on what needs to be done, some need to be filed, read, or I need to decided what the @next is.
ONWARD to squalor free paper.

I haven't posted in a long long time. I've been avoiding the paper piles because I'm beyond the easy-toss stage and am now at a point where I need to make harder decisions. Specifically, I want to organize my medical papers into a binder. I've spent hours online looking at all kinds of systems, but I'm dreading the task. I need to get a grip on it somehow. Maybe just bringing it up on this thread will help me break through the paralysis. But meanwhile... I've been keeping up on my daily mail for weeks and weeks, I'm so proud of myself! Opening it downstairs in the lobby has made a huge difference for such a little change of habit. Also I'm thrilled to say that at long last I have caught up with my backlog of magazines!! It's April and I'm actually reading the April and May issues. All earlier issues have been read and donated. Again, it was a little change that helped... I simply moved my to-read stack into the bathroom (*TMI alert*) for those moments when a little reading material is needed.

good work cando, roadrunner, papermoon wynken I've not logged in for a bit but I've been still sorting papers from the filing cabinet and I think I can probably get if fully cleaned out this coming weekend at the rate I'm going. I've also been setting up a budget on the computer and opened a new account just for the bills - it feels like I'm getting there

I've been AWOL for 31 days, not a bit of paperwork except the daily mail. But thanks to cando and the "work along" thread, I did an hour today in the paper piles, sorting/tossing/shredding. Filled up a big heavy bag and dropped it down the recycle chute. *KA-BOOM!* I love the sound when it hits the dumpster.

Welcome back, papermoon I'm keeping up with daily mail. Took about 3 more inches of paper out of my file cabinet. Put a big grocery bag full of paper out to the curb again this morning. I'm soooo sick of sorting paper. When does the paper stash end?

sue5000, it's never-ending, a modern-day Sisyphean task. When we were kids wishing we were adults, could we have ever imagined how many hours and hours of our adult lives would be sucked away by sorting paper and hitting the Delete key?? Another hour of my life was sucked away today... sorting and shredding medical and bank papers. I think I'll join the "CD a day" thread for a bit of musical accompaniment to my paper hours (and hours).

Wrote 7 bills today, ready to mail tomorrow. Recycled extraneous papers which had made a little nest on the couch a few days ago.

I need to join in on this. I have at least 5 boxes stored in the school room, labelled 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 because for the last few years I've just shoved papers into the relevant box. Not terribly useful for retrieving papers that are needed. Even if I only deal with 3 papers a day, I could sort and file 1095 papers in a year. That would make a huge dent in my pile of papers.

Good Work Everyone. I have been swamped with home, work and DS, DD activities over the last week so I have not been keeping up with a daily posting of paper clutter. However I have been attacking paper clutter religiously everyday one piece at a time. I am happy to report that my "in the house paper stash" is receiving a change in rank from decluttering to organizing. ie all paper clutter has been banished and now I am organizing.

Welcome pugglemum! At least YOU were smart enough to have a basic system! My boxes and bags of paper are/were all mixed up ... stuff from 1981 mixed in with 1998 and 2012! I started out with about 22 boxes/ bags of paper and, 4 years later, I'm now down to my last ONE! I already said I'm throwing a party here when I finish the last box, so please stay on this thread so you can join the party!!
