I did my 12 minutes today, second day in a row, and I lived to tell the tale. I started dismantling a journal containing revelations I would never want anyone to read. It was important at the time (2012) to write it all down, but those dark days are gone now. The book itself is a really beautiful leather journal made in Italy, and only about 20 percent of the pages have been written on. So I'm slicing out those pages with an X-Acto and sending them to the shredder. I'll keep the remaining book for something less, um, fraught. I've been putting off this task for a long time, because I thought it would be too painful. But I am getting some very good insights from re-reading it now... then into the shredder, no regrets. Cool. I have a similar task ahead of me (my journals from my teenage years and from the most difficult period of my life), and I'll try to remember your words when dealing with them. Thank you, papermoon!

Paperwork for 10 min x 3rd day.
I've thrown out a good pile of papers today. Sorted through a small drawer that I hadn't looked at in years. Same with a bag of professional papers. I am not finding a place for everything. Still, I feel like I'm making progress. If I let the things I am unsure about stop me, I wouldn't be doing anything at all. A much smaller pile, put is preferable.
I guess I'll keep that handful of notes from an old boyfriend. For now.

Squeezed in my 10 min. at the final buzzer! I really didn't want to. 4th day.
Opened recent mail. Sorted through some less recent mail. Ended up being about 15 min. If I can keep this up it will be VERY good! It is deflating a lot of the anxiety for me.

Thanks for the reminder, grasshopper. I haven't done my 12-minute stint for the day yet, but will go do it right now.

Sat and filled out plus searched out all relevant paper for two must finish projects along with getting them ready to mail and be taken in to correct places. Took 2 hours. Homework almost 1 1/2 hours researched and posted
Can almost see the top of nightstand again. I had it reclaimed and then used it for two unfinished projects. Going back to goal of moving it to corner. It will still have unfinished projects but it won't be in plain view.
My goal is to have one corner for paperwork and confine to its own area where the paperwork stays reasonably private. I don't like everybody able to look in on what I am doing, my bills etc.

Got me again, grasshopper. Here I am idly reading the forum, and along comes your post. So I will jump offline and go do my 12 minutes right now!

As promised, I did my 12 minutes yesterday and another 12 today. That makes 6 days in a row! Only 4 more journal pages to go, and I can kiss that worrisome thing good-bye.

Hi I'd like to join you. 10 minutes of paperwork yesterday and today. Currently, I'm dealing with a drawer full of hanging files. I once thought that it was wise to file all my operating instructions. But this is nonsense: All this information is readily available on the web! Moreover, some of them are for devices I no longer have... OK, I'm going through my paper, 10 minutes a day.

Ta-da 1: Yesterday I finished up the old journal, shredded the last pages, and put them in the paper recycling bag. It was enough to seal the bag (5 pounds), and lob it down the recycling chute. Actually, I went down to use the chute on the bottom floor so the bag wouldn't burst on impact. Ta-da 2: That completed my first week of working 12 minutes on papers every day. I'm going to continue for the remaining 2 days of September. Then October 1, I'll add another 12 minutes, for a total of 24 minutes daily. Admittedly, being twice as much, it might be twice as hard. But let's see how it goes.

Opened mail and found out some company billed us erroneously and I got refund. I wondered why I had money? See what happens when you open the mail! Every now and then it's worth it.

Starting over. 10 min paperwork. Sorting an old drawer.
I'm going to amend my goal to 10 min/day 5 days a week, because 2 of the days I'll be lucky if I can clean the kitchen for 10 min.

It's a constantly evolving process, grasshopper. I think it's good to frequently reassess what works, how much, when, etc. I've got no idea if my plan of 24 minutes a day will work until I try it. If it doesn't work, then back to Square One. My problem has been that too often I reverted to Square Zero instead, and went AWOL from this thread.

I did paperwork and confined it to a basket and the top of the dresser. That is improvement. No papers are in rest of house. Yay!!!
