I feel like I need a place for it. I am taking volumes of notes and examples for school so paper is multiplying as I watch.
Cats jumped on my desk and scattered a bunch of stuff so more added on to do.
Insurance stuff showed...again...five envelopes each time! Every ten days or so ...duplicates.
I keep trying to get caught up but its not easy.
Many of these bills will be going soon. I get redetermination of income due to California having not paid workers overtime. It was determined to be illegal so for the first time we get time and a half. So with raise I will pay off bunches of back due bills.
That one thing will get rid of a significant amount of paperwork.

Well done angela, @louie, papermoon, lostchild, you are all doing so well tackling those papers - the ones I think of as heart-drop papers cause that is what happens when I think of them. I have spent some easy time dealing with junk mail & catalogues in order to build up my paper decluttering muscles. Hoping to get some real work done next week.

I would like to join you all here this month to ensure I am making positive steps to keep up with incoming papers and to create 'homes' for all my keep papers. I am hoping to become more consistent.
This morning I purged more than seven inches of paper from my filing cabinet. I want to spend another 15 minutes filing away keep papers and also make sure that today's mail gets put in the incoming mail basket at minimum.

welcome nekomom I did not do the filing last night, totally forgot about it! Also when I printed off some papers to sign it's much more complicated than I thought and I need to copy some other papers. sorted the daily mail and tossed out some of my sons magazines he no longer needs as well as some of his old school books he doesn't want - 2 small bags full.

Hi, nekomom. Nice to have you join our paper party. I'm continuing with my new daily paper hour habit... so far I've sorted and shredded an hour a day for 10 days. Yesterday I phoned and ordered my 3 credit reports (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). This may sound twisted, but I think it would be a wonderful Christmas present to myself if I could make some good headway cleaning up my record this month.

I need to get back to posting more regularly - Yesterday I got a stack of mail which I opened and sorted, tossed out the envelopes and 'stuff' but there is follow up and filing I need to do and I put that off, started a little pile on my kitchen table which I don't want to get back in the habit of. Since the obvious paper clutter is dealt with and I'm working on general decluttering, I've noticed other paper type clutter that needs my attention that I did not think of when I started the thread. So I'm going to get to work on these as well and post here. I've started decluttering in the lounge room and I have boxes of photographs that need sorting, scanning and going through so I'm going to try and work on them here over the coming year as photographs are paper too Another type of paper I'm dealing with that I hadn't considered before is all my scrapbooking stuff. I want to keep it but it needs sorting out and it needs to find a proper home. I'm also using it up by making cards that I will donate to charity so I get to enjoy it and so does someone else. DH has a lot of old magazines that he never reads which I'd love to get rid of. DS had boxes of old magazines and school books in his room and he was happy for me to toss them out so four boxes of them have been put out in the garbage last night get papers signed and post post files for RS

I haven't done much directly related to home and estate administration or financial management EXCEPT to call the storage facility office and notify them that the unit was emptied and cleaned. Done. Oh, and I've spent the last couple of days setting up my activity station for the aforementioned home and estate administration and financial management.

Yay, Angela!!!! Way to go! That is great!
Yesterday no paper entered our home and I did nothing with paper at all that I could remember.
Today the mail came into our home into designated basket. A few pieces got burned and bills got paid and filed away. Bill statement envelopes got thrown out.
Next I would like to purge some magazines but laundry is needing my attention.

I've hit a rough patch in my paper piles, but I'm still persevering for one hour each day. This morning I dropped another 6-pound paper bomb down the recycle chute. This afternoon I phoned a private library I used to belong to. I had to drop my membership in 2004 because it was getting too expensive. At that point I also "lost" 2 books I had checked out. I have a feeling I set them on the roof of my car while I was fishing my keys out of my purse, and then drove off absent-mindedly. The books were never found, and of course they were very expensive. I finally paid that old past-due bill 2 years ago, but when I found the payment receipt yesterday I hesitated about shredding it. First I wanted to make sure that my library record was clear. So I phoned today, and the library said there's nothing due on my account at all. But I'm still going to hang onto that receipt until my credit reports arrive in the mail, to be absolutely sure that the debt doesn't appear on them. The receipt is the only proof of payment I have.

I have been moving paper piles into my Household Administration and Financial Management Activity Area.
So far I have moved all of S's current papers onto the little rolling wire cart so I can access each macro-category of paper and have a place to put the continuing incoming mail.
I have moved my current paper pile onto the table. Last night I moved the paper pile from my sitting area end table onto the paperwork table as well, taking a quick flick through the contents, seeing much to be filed and probably a bit to toss as well.
I have a small spiral thingie to put my mail in until I open it and I am getting satisfaction from opening the days mail. I even opened a letter from the IRS, my very most terrifying type of mail.
Sitting down at this desk, with my office chair and file box neat and organized gives me enough power to do this now.

After several days of zero paperwork, I put in an hour-plus today when my first credit report arrived in the mail. I wasn't a bit afraid to open it right away and go through it carefully. I was expecting it to be much worse. There are only four items to clean up. Well, two of them are doozies... federal and state tax liens. But at least I'm getting a clearer picture of reality now, instead the horror scenarios of my overwrought imagination.
Now I'll wait for the remaining two credit reports to arrive, and I hope all three will be in agreement. Then I can take the next steps forward.

My chickens are coming home to roost. I haven't quite confessed the depth of the problem, but I am working through my idiotic paperwork pile with my husband. This sucks and I keep doing it. My life would be nearly perfect if I only made a few small changes. I don't understand why I can't make myself do them. The worst part is that my personal hell is giving my husband extra work and worry, which I never intended, but I can't seem to stop. Why don't I feel like I deserve a peaceful mind and home? I hate the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, but apparently not enough to stop doing this. I want to stop punishing myself, or at least figure out what I'm punishing myself for. I feel stuck. I think I'm going to have to make an appointment with a cognitive behavioral therapist in the new year.
Anyway, I spent an hour this morning going through various bits of paper and scanning and filing them away. After I drop my kid at school I'm going to come home and tackle one of the scary problems in my pile, which will hopefully allow me to get rid of a good quarter of the paper still on my desk.

Hi perfectionist. You are being VERY brave going through the paper now, with your DH. It is scary. I'm more scared of the financial problems and challenges lurking in those piles than of anything else right now. But we can do it together, you are taking action and that is HUGE. I give you a lot of credit.
