you're doing a really good job flotsam! last night I filled the papers out - they were quite simple once I got to it - 5 minutes to do and I've put it off for months this morning I sorted another small stack of papers on the dining room table - some were filed and some to the shredding basket.

Yesterday I found a bill that was due. It is the only regular bill that is not on automatic withdrawal from my bank account, so I drove to the nearest office (15 miles), paid the thing and set it up on automatic draft. I will not be late again and will save $6.00 per year in postage. I also paid my taxes and renewed a newspaper subscription while I was there.
Today I was going to do a 10 minute tidy of my kitchen table. I have it almost cleared off and worked 3 hours filing papers, working on my income tax and my checkbook. I had not printed anything from my computer in two months. Today I hooked it to the printer and printed pictures to send to dh's cousin, a baby bib pattern and income tax forms. Then I turned the printer off, unplugged the computer and took the laptop back into the living room.
I need to start scanning genealogy papers again, so I can through many more pieces of paper away.

Thanks Louie! It takes a lot of time to chip away at Mount Everest Paper. I guess I'll need this thread for a long time . I'm glad you started it because it really helps! Good job on paying the bill right away, imamess. I'm always in awe of people who can stand filing papers for more than 15 minutes at a time! Today: 16 papers to recycling.

sounds like you got through a lot inamess, wtg!
sue good job doing the mail, I'm starting to realize that a lot of what I get in the mail is just rubbish - I need to change to more online statements I think.
I tossed out a catalogue and two brochures, added two bills to the clipboard and tossed out a pile of old receipts off a shelf.

I've now got a full grocery bag of recyclable paper. I'll put it out tomorrow morning with a big bag of trash, and a bag of glass and plastic containers.
