I tried a dishes curfew before joining this thread. But now that I've reformed, I don't think I could get to sleep if I didn't have all the dishes washed, no matter what time.
That beautiful shiny sink every morning... it's too big a prize for me to give up.
YMMV.

No problem papermoon. Choosing hours for awake and resting/sleeping is something some have a choice, and others are wanting to change. I had a long time when I slept/rested best in the 3-11am time slot so I understand. I got rid of all morning activities/appointments for a long while. Now I've got places to go at 9 or 10 am again so something had to give. Getting to lights out at 12 is still a bit of a battle, and I have a 60 min delay til breakfast to deal with. Dishes washed here tonight.

dayeanu I am sorry about you mom and glad that some stress was taken from you. I second that. Messes add so much stress to the crisis at hand. Keeping the house clean and orderly is caring for the future self in crisis.

I highly recommend my Pyrex-dish-method to others. Being able to cook, serve, refrigerate, and re-heat and re-serve food all in the same dish is awesome. You can see what's in the fridge, and there isn't room for a lot of leftovers, so they don't get hidden in corners and forgotten.
The dishes have plastic lids. To re-heat in the oven, I'll either put a cookie sheet on top of the dish or cover with foil. The round ones fit into the microwave with plastic lids on.
Meal leftovers can often go into one dish together, and then I have a whole meal to heat up in one dish.
I put all my small plastic containers and lids into a white garbage bag and put them in the basement. So far, I haven't gone after one. The only reason I could see for going after them is if I want to freeze something. I like freezing in containers, and then popping the frozen food out and using the vacuum sealer. I haven't been into that lately, but I may get back to it. But maybe I could have a stack of containers in the basement for that. I LOVE the free drawer space in the kitchen.
I try to get plastic containers that nest and use all the same lids. But they always seem to proliferate and be a little bit different, and then they fill up drawers and cupboards. Chinese takeout containers were great for nesting in a small space, and great for freezing stuff. But not so good for leftovers because they're opaque and no one wants to rummage through mystery containers in the fridge.

DW unloaded. larataylor I'm still using the glad ware stuff but hope to transition to glass eventually. I tend to break my glass cookware, glasses, etc so I'm not sure I'm ready to take the plunge yet, but m glad it is working for you

cleanbee - I break stuff, too. But Pyrex is pretty hard to break.

Dishes washed here last night.
Note to those using take away containers - Look at the numbers on the bottom. some cannot be used for reheating in microwave more than once. I think a 5 was ok to keep using. There was a thread on that somewhere, and I've heard an expert talking of the 1 = single use only thing.
Personally - any plastic I'm using is bpa free.

I have done dishes 4 times today with 9 year old daughter having company and painting. I am sick of my dishes and I still have another batch!
I am still going to do them!! But they had better quit multiplying behind my back!
