This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

MessyShelby--Great job on laundry, dishes & picking shtuff up!!!
Mle--how you doing on the papers? This pile that I started with is so very slow going... stressful stuff, but I am trying not to think about it really, just trying to find places to put the important stuff--which is quite a lot of this stack. That is why this pile is where it is next to my laptop on my kitchen table. BUT, I don't want it there anymore and must make a better system. So, back to doing what I should have been doing... Filing cabinet which is in the Office of Doom & my Office in a Bag. Lots of stuff just have to be kept... letters re: changes with mortgage, etc. etc. Some stuff requires actions, but time consuming & don't want to do that now. Some were bills... Ich!!!!!! Has to be done...I want my eating area back!!! At least temporarily until we can switch to using the dining room. The kids are old enough now that they shouldn't be spilling as often so we are planning on turning the Eating Area into a computer area.... But, for now...we'll take back as our Eating Area. Baby Steps, baby steps...
Tadas: 1)15 minutes of paper h*ll -- 7 papers/magazine = Recycle bag, 12 papers filed. 2)15 more minutes of above -- 10 papers = recycle bag, 7 papers = shred bag, 5 papers filed 3)15 more minutes -- 1 paper in trash, 10 papers filed, 4 papers into recycle bag, 1 paper in shred bag.
Todos: Now don't be surprised, but PAPER DECLUTTERING IN EATING AREA!!! 1)15 minutes 2)15 minutes 3)15 minutes
Total time spent decluttering will be 1 1/2 hours. plus, time putting stuff in file cabinet which I am doing every time the timer rings & I stop decluttering... I will stop after this & do some other things.

Cando, we must be twins -- all those nasty papers that seem to breed and multiply! I keep telling people to e-mail me the information and NOT give me a paper with the information on it; I can never find it when I need it anyway... I am very fortunate that the weather has been nice, because we eat out back on the patio every night -- every other table has been taken over by papers. It sounds as if we have the same office too. I like your name for yours, "Office of Doom." We call our house, "Casa Chaos." Keep up the paper work (you are doing really well!), and I'll try to keep up with you -- after I take a little break. Ta-Da's 1. Decluttered the living room table -- can see wood :-) 2. Fixed printer 3. Laundry -- in and out and in Reward: Spa and shower To Do: 1. Put sorted papers away! 2. Make a list of daughters' chores BEFORE they get home 3. Put away books in office "Talk" to you later, mle
