This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Hey folks! I'm back from sunny FL and my house is a disaster zone. Sigh. I have had so much anxiety from just looking around that I let it get me pretty low the last day or two. Last night I called in and didn't go to work and today I feel better after having slept. I feel so much pressure. My kids are 15, 15, 13 and 5 and I feel the pressure to make the last years I have with my teenagers be an example of turning our lives around and making our home be a peaceful, calm, pretty place to be. I am putting so much pressure on myself to make this happen that I have become a raging shrew instead. So, I am working on deep breaths and calming down and finding little pieces of rooms to clean up, a litle at a time. My dryer isn't working right so my huge mountain of dirty clothes is getting washed, bagged and each day I take a car load of it to the laundromat.
TADAs unloaded the dishwasher loaded and started the dishwasher. put about half of the stray dishes in a warm soapy sink of water washed and bagged 7 loads of laundry (counting last nights washes) bleached a 3' length of counter by the sink picked up some trash off the kitchen floor wrote a letter to my doctor about a bill I don't remember services for.
TODOs post the letter sweep the porch and clean it up for Halloween there is a desk for my 5 year old that's been sitting on the porch waiting to be washed down and put in her room for coloring. I want to get it done today.
You all have done so much...please let's help keep ourselves focusing on what we are getting done, not on what we have neglected till now. I'm so grateful for you all, you have no idea how much better it is finding a group who understand that I am not a bad person for living this way...I am just overwhelmed.

Hi Marie,
Having kids grow up is tough! I'm feeling the same way, though my daughter is only 9. I keep thinking, she's growing up thinking it's normal to have 7 loads of laundry scattered around the hallway floor or dishes stacked everywhere.
WTG on getting the laundry dried, even if it means trekking to the laundry mat.
Well done, Wantinmore, for getting the costume washed!!
Madtiger, I hope you tummy settles down soon. That candy is just too tempting.
Iprocrastinate- Well done on all you've done this morning, especially putting your shoes on!!
Tadas: Folded all the clean clothes! Most put away, but have two stacks left to do.
Clothes piled in hallway, waiting to be washed. 7 loads left to do.
Dirty clothes in the dishwasher and washer started.
Tados: 1. Recyle laundry. 2. Make a grocery list. 3. Make sure dd showers, then go to store. (we might be gone a while.)

I'm so grateful for you all, you have no idea how much better it is finding a group who understand that I am not a bad person for living this way...I am just overwhelmed. Hi Marie, I think you've summed it up! That's exactly how I feel about this place! Skatters, well done for keeping things running smoothly, despite the set back of your son missing the bus! Well done for not letting that throw you out of kilter! Wantinmore, I hope you've got your DD's costume washed! Is she going trick or treating? Or just a party? I'm in England, and Halloween isn't that big here. I'll be carving a pumpkin with my daughter, but that's it. We never get trick or treaters, so I don't even have to worry about stocking up on sweets. Threeg, I hope you get all sorted before your sister arrives! TADAs: Handwashing. Posted back dvds to Blockbuster. Went to shop for milk, bread, etc. TODOs: Carve pumpkin with DD Search for and find DVD that's overdue at library! De-clutter under and around DD's easel! (Yes, it was on my WIT a few days ago1 no, I didn't do it! )

Put a lot of clothes and things away from the dining room. TODOS: 1. More straightening up in the dining room and parlor. 2. Put my rooted Purple Passion plant in dirt. Threeg,
We are in sync, sort of! Banking, and potting some houseplants are on my ToDos! And breakfast is way overdue.
TaDa's:
Emailed a friend to claim his stuff. (I never intended to store it for him) Walked to a pay phone, and reinstated my telephone service. Emailed a volunteer position, and told them I am quitting, as of today! (Yep, short notice, but I had forgotten, and it is now 3 hours commuting, for 1 hour of volunteer work.)
ToDo's: EAT SOMETHING NUTRITOUS! Take three things from my kitchen table that don't belong there. Find the nutritous thing to eat.
