I dozed from about 8 until 10 listening to the radio and podcasts. I slept pretty well but woke at 3:30 ish again DRENCHED in sweat, I mean you could have wrung out the sheets. So I fiddled around trying to find a dry spot to occupy and get warm and go back to sleep. I woke around 7:30. imamess glad you got such a good night's sleep!

At least you didn't have to get up and stay up a couple of hours like I do when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Congratulations imamess. bobolink -That happens to me too. you might need a more gradual change of lights out. 11pm might be too ambitious for a while. angela - sorry about the night sweats. Finding the right sustainable temperature for the whole night is so hard, and peeling blankets off or on while asleep is an art form impossible - I remember those times. bed @ 11.40pm. lights out before 12. awake before 5 again. Tmeds at 6 and started breakfast cremating, back to bed til 7.45. readings and prayers in bed.

Funny thing. Since I've been writing a lot, I get sleepy earlier at night. DH says that creativity is exercising my brain so it needs more sleep. It just seems odd that I'm getting so worn out sitting on the couch using my fingers! But it's all good.

bedtime 12.45. woke just before 7. I'll count that as good for sleep. My sleep quality seems better with an hour of rest after lunch. That is great larataylor.

wynken I'm glad you're getting some good longer stretches right now. larataylor, I have read similar theories about "brain" work causing us to need more sleep. I've gotten myself to lay down 10-ish this week which is the first step in a better sleep. Sweats again last night but not as bad as earlier. I'll try again tonight. Will need to take Ibuprofen for back and shoulder and arm pain.

Last night I was a willful thing, read to the end of a book even though it was past 12 when I went to bed til 2. Then couldn't sleep. I put on a cd that takes about an hr, then gave up and grabbed a new book and read. Dosed a little after the birds and sun were up. I'll renew my wish to look after myself, and find where I left my self discipline. And to read at appropriate times, and give up sooner if the book is unsatisfactory.

I've been following this thread on and off, and I have a question... Is there anybody here who has succeeded in changing your sleep habits for the better *and* has maintained it? I've been able to succeed with my daily dish-washing, but I am really up against it with my sleep schedule. This is hard! I've been working at it for the past 4 days & nights.
I would love to hear a true success story for healthy sleep... details of how you made the change, as well as how you maintain the new habit.

Not feeling quite rested though I am laying down early. Pain, sweats, or some other something making me restless. Last night two of my kitties wanted to occupy the pillows where MY head should be so over the course of the night I ended up with my head up in the corner of the bed, laying on a diagonal since another kitty was pressing against my legs from the other direction! I've been watching an episode of Corner Gas on my phone before lights out. That show is so sweetly funny, but I actually have been dozing off during the episode. papermoon my success is partial. My goal is for earlier arising and more and better sleep overall. So it ALL hinges on laying down early. I did have to start with that earlier morning alarm wake-up. Honestly, much of that habit was developed this last year when I was having to rise early to take S to appointments. The earlier to bed habit has developed this fall with the darker, earlier nightfall.

Oh dear lostchild, that's funny! Hope the remote is okay. Sorry you were sick in the middle of the night. I was laying down by 10:30, woke at 7:00 with a nightmare, dozed for a bit then rose around 8:00. Sweaty last night again and the nightmare was disturbing. I could have accidentally eaten MSG yesterday with a restaurant french dip sandwich.
