Glowworm originally suggested doing 30 challenges .... in the style of Illuminata's challenges on the prior forum. Illuminata used to do 30 days in a row of challenges ... during a season, or in preparation for an event. They are fun, goofy, and inspiring. Most importantly, they can be SMALL challenges (or as large as you wish). Just do take one action (of the theme of the day) to make your life better. It can be a little thing. Here's how Glowworm beautifully explained the concept: These types of challenges are fun, crazy, and creative. They can be done as a game, for the whole family. I am human today. Lots of creative entries for our opening party! Well done everyone. I can eat again today. My mouth doesn't feel like a homeless man lived in there for a week. So the word for the day is..... [glow=red,2,300]food[/glow] Got some funky food that needs throwing out? Food living on the cupboards that need to be wiped off? Food on the face that needs to be wiped maybe? <-- Only kidding, I just wanted an excuse to use that smiley...

Wow, maybe I'm not quite ready to face the world yet. I just bleached my coffee cups. Thinking I was clever and all doing the [glow=red,2,300]drink[/glow] challenge. Got all excited, came back to post... bugger.. that was yesterdays. I did [glow=red,2,300]food[/glow] shopping. Bought heaps of weightwatchers meals, because I'm sick of thinking, "oh I'm not paying for that, I can make it myself..." and I never do. Ending up eating way too much takeaways and just too much of portions of dinner. So I'm feeling broker, but it's a step towards my weightloss. I pulled the nappy basket out, and found an old dried-up dried apricot (didn't know they could get any drier, but this was heading towards fossilised.... ) so threw that in the bin. Now I'm going to scrub all the old [glow=red,2,300]food[/glow] off the kitchen floor.

Food related: I cleaned a kitchen counter to the left of my stove top, and the stove top. I cleaned the outside surfaces of my rice cooker, including the hard-to-get-to spots inside the handles. It's sort of like rice paper, but not quite, in there. I took a toothpick to it after spraying it with vinegar to loosen it. I cleaned off the tiles of the yet-to-be-glued-down 'hot plate' that I use for underneath my crockpot (to protect the counter from the heat.) I threw away a honey bear with crystalized honey. The only reason I kept it in the first place was because granddaughter loved the honey bear. But there are plenty of honey bears out there & crystalized honey isn't a necessary ingredient in anything I'm cooking.
After putting everything back nice and clean, I started some garbanzo beans (chick peas) in the crock pot. These are some of my favorite beans. I especially like them in salads. But they're great alone with just a little pepper.
Update: Later, I added a package of frozen vegetables to the crockpot and turned it into garbanzo bean soup. (Using up food in refrigerator.) I also took a frozen box of divinity out of the freezer. It's been in there for probably 2 years or more, and I can't eat anything quite that sweet. I suggested to Hubby that he eat it or I will throw it away. I guess it's going in the trash.

I vow (as they used to say on the Walton's television show, many, many years ago)--that I will throw away FIVE too-old food items!

I chopped up the largest of my three halloween pumpkins and boiled the hunks to turn them into food....made pumpkin bread with some of it and put up 5 cups in the freezer in 1 cup baggies. The rest of that pumpkin is cooked, cooling and draining waiting to be mashed, measured and put up.
I have thrown out 1 old food item from the fridge and will find 2 more.
I have cleaned the dried up food from the microwave and washed the microwave plate in the dishwasher.
I have folded up some cereal and other food boxes and put them in the recycle bin

- I spoke with someone on the phone and decided to ask her to be my Overeaters Anonymous sponsor and she accepted!
I had told her I was scared.
And... she said she's not going to be rigid. She just wants me to eat healthfully and find a reasonable food plan. No crazy diets or rigid regimens.
I realized I was suffering from "all or nothing thinking". It was a relief to realize that I can do things in a human, decent, practical way.
And, I told her I have a messy kitchen and am working to "recover" from that tendency ... but I will have trouble with cooking and planning meals because of that. She was very understanding and said we could work something out that was DOABLE.
Yay!

Way to go Lion! You took a big step today. I am proud of you. Good things are coming your way.
Hubby and I went to the store. I got enough food for the entire week and then some! We planned all the meals for the week. Lunch stuff for DS2. Dog and cat foods. Bird seed. I think I took care of food for all of us!
In order to put said food away I had to clean science experiments out of the fridge first. So bonus. I now have a few more dishes than I had anticipated. Oh well. I will get them done before bed.

Food, hum. I eat too much of it that's for sure... Well, we were all able to eat dinner at my kitchen table tonight for the first time in months. Also, cleaned some food spots that were on the kitchen floor. Cooked good side dishes tonight. Cleaned off stuck on food spots from top of stove. CD
