I realized, after reading Lioness' post regarding squalor yesterday, that although I've been saying that I've maintained clear floor space in already cleared areas, that this isn't entirely true. The upstairs hallway has always been a catch-all for whatever we don't know what to do with. So, even though there is no longer trash, clothes, towels, etc strewn everywhere, I am using it as a sorting area while I clean my bedroom and one other room on the second floor. I'm thinking that in the eyes of a "cleanie," this would not be acceptable. So, I'm going to have to keep reminding myself that this is ok as a temporary situation, but it is by no means a clear area! MyTo Dos are: CLEAN MY BEDROOM before trash pick-up day (Wednesday). Start doing the laundry in the "sorting piles" in the hallway.

Take meds Help change thermostat Update Fanfare Send Cousin John more old family photos via email Write note to Cousin Donna regarding pix (started) Send snail mail to Cousin Donna for email addy Maintenance Visit Mother Take additional clothing to Mother Take Mom for a stroll _________________________________________ When we returned from our trip Friday, our house was chilly, so I turned up the heat. The dial jumped dramatically to 90°F and stayed there! We couldn't lower the thermostat. We've been spot cooling with fans and open windows while keeping the thermostat hot in the hallway (so it wouldn't keep running the furnace). Dad left a message with the repairmen Saturday morning, but they don't work on the weekends. The repairmen walked in this morning, gasped at the rush of hot air at the front door, and quickly replaced the old broken thermostat. Ahh! Relief! The pin oak in our front yard is a gorgeous gold red copper color. The leaves glow like smoldering embers. In the past, random walkers have rung our doorbell to tell us how beautiful it was. With temperatures so mild right now, this might be a good opportunity to take Mom for a stroll in the park. _________________________________________ Razy - I'm so glad you got your portfolio turned in. That is a milestone! Remember to savor what you've done before moving on to the next goal. I believe that recognizing and celebrating our accomplishments is one of the keys to positive self-worth. Eagle - Wow. It isn't even 10:00 am yet and you've already got most of your list done! I hope your sleep schedule adjusts soon to the new time change. It's a little like dealing with jet-lag without the expense (or benefits) of traveling, isn't it? UdderChaos - You shine! Your clean mirrors remind me that I need to clean our mirrors. It's been on my list for a while. I'm still hunting for my new container of Windex wipes, which disappeared the weekend we moved my mother. Argh! tiredofthis - Isn't it funny how we constantly have "light-bulb" moments where we suddenly see a situation in a whole new light? We never know what self-discovery is lurking around the next corner. Good luck with the hallway! (PS. Lovely checkboxes! ) Cando - Good job collecting the trash! I gather this is trash day? I think what impresses me most is that you kept going, even with a headache. You rock, CD! AnnieOkie - After your marathon cleaning spree, you have every right to get away and enjoy precious time with your honey. Welcome back!

Hurray everyone for being so productive! I've been in the living room all afternoon, and while I've been steadily putting things away, it feels as though nothing is happening! Objectively, I know that I *am* getting work done. There's just STUFF strewn everywhere as I attempt to sort things and put them away/toss them out at the same time. It's all odds and ends now, too, none of the "big" stuff that's easily dealt with, so it feels like trying to empty out the oceans with a wine glass. Bah. Onward! ~Mouse
