Aww reb, don't be discouraged. You got rid of lots of icky stuff, and you reclaimed things you want to use. Besides, it's not just a matter of cleaning things and putting them back - you need to outsmart the mice, to prevent them from turning your possessions into a playground. I'm a big fan of plastic bins, and I need to find some now that'll fit into my dresser drawers. I used to have them in all my bathroom drawers, at my last place. It's almost fun to open the drawer, and see a few mouse poops in the corner of the drawer, while all your stuff is clean and contained. Good luck finding something that works in your kitchen.

cyn well the mouses are long gone for this season. Those that might come around have run back into the apartment walls to take up residence in other apartments that don't have Little Miss Cattitude's to chase them off on sight. My stuff was thrown into bins and bags when I had to rip everything outta my cupboards and I have been living out of bins ever since. Bins won't fit in these horrid little cupboards. I threw out hundreds of dollars worth of food that was all neatly packaged in baggies cuz the mice just ate through *everything* including a dishpan, purses etc. Thanks for the hugs. I'm sure some time this week I can pull up my discouraging socks and clean out that bin.

Look on the bright side: it's only a bin's worth. And you can *wash your hands* when you're done! What a luxury!

I joined the demousifying efforts today. I found 'evidence' by my stove and wall heater. And then under my bathroom sink, which I just cleaned at 1am. Not a nice surprise. I haven't found any near food, dishes, etc. I think they come in to eat the cat's food. My place has so many ins and things just aren't sealed. Mice are 'around' here, so this will be an ongoing challenge.

Okay am onto de-mousifying cupboards!!! Have vaccuumed TWO [promised meself one at a time] of them and sprayed them down with bleach to soak. Now it's just going back, bending painfully and scrubbing them the rest of the way out with rubber gloves, a brush and paper towels. We who are about to die, salute you!

My heart goes out to you de-mousers. When I first joined here, that's what I had to do (I used the WITs thread to make it through.) Gross, depressing work.
I'm sorry guys. It's awful, but eventually you'll be finished.
Ok, I have a gross (no garbage or anything...it just gets REALLY dingy from dust and dog hair and stuff) corner right now I've been avoiding. I need to pull out my couch to REALLY clean it, but I think I'm just going to lean over the couch, sweep as best I can, and then swoosh the mop around a few rounds and call it "good enough".)

Round one done. The sweeping was pointless because it's so grimy, it had turned sticky. The mopping helped a little. It still looks pretty gross. At least it smells like pinesol now. . Round 2 will be taking boiling hot towel and leaning over the side of the couch and hand scrubbing as best I can. I'll try to think of it as functional, alternative yoga. That should make it at least a bit better.

windGood on ya. I found one good trick is to put an atrocious spot on the weekly "rounds"--and not worry about fussiness. Eventually, you wear it down and the mess runs away from home with very little effort on your part

Reb, Can you sit on a stool or a turned over bucket to help the bending? I have a bad knee and anthough I can bend from the waist, I can't squat anymore to get into the bottom cabinets. I can sit on a stool, then bend from there if I have the sink or something to pull up to. When you get done, could you put some tubs or trays or pull out drawers in the cabinets to make the items you put back easier to get to? Good Luck!

My ick for today is a dirty sticky pile of STUFF in a washing basket. I think there's a bunch of flowers dried up in there, much cat hair, sticky dirty kids clothes bits of food no doubt and who knows how many roach babies. Thank heaven for my amazing mousers (kitties) or I'd be back in mousehell like my last house where I wasn't allowed to have my furbabies. my heart goes out to all of you de-rodenting. It was so hard. Better finish my WIT jobs so I can clear this basket eh?
