wind you're doing great with where you are at. I agree with reb, wear it down over time, one day it will just be gone.

angelaI got a lot of de-mousifying done since I've been here, thanks to all the support. One bag, drawer and cupboard at a time. Only some more cupboards to go then I can do a proper regular clean up of all the other things I let slide during the mouse-icide. I once got a bathroom that had been used by a bunch of guys for months before I got there, all sparkly without ever having to actually do a big clean up just by swishing and swiping a bit at a time each day as I gargled my mouthwash and eventually with very little work at all--even the grotty little bits that take forever were worn away to hotel clean.

I love this. The swish and swipe, one square at a time! I restarted cleaning one tile at a time every shower in my bathroom!

I didn't do my ick upstairs but I did do an ick downstairs, wiped down part of the bathroom floor. Imperfect but better than nothing.

I got halfway through my trashpit basket, got bored so I cleaned a really sticky dusty set of shelves instead. angela Imperfect is 100% better than nothing!

angela and needmorecoffee - I find that I'm happier, more productive, and keep a pretty clean house when I EMBRACE and intentionally do imperfect jobs sometimes. Celebrate the imperfectly done jobs, guys!

I decided to tackle an innocuous corner of my bedroom that only had a few things in it. After putting some things away, I saw them. Mouse droppings. Five tiny little specks of nasty. Now I'm paranoid that I might've put something away that was mousified. I think I'm going to pull it out and toss it. EDIT: I tossed it. Swiped the surrounding pouches with 99% alcohol since they can't be bleached and besides that I don't even know if they really touched anything.
I will demousify the corner before bed. This was not a good 1am discovery. It hasn't been a great day and I'm too anxious to sleep (did purging of difficult items today and still haven't calmed down.) It's making me fixate on it. I feel so embarrassed.
I guess at least I found this today, when I'm already miserable, instead of tomorrow, which surely will be a better day.
EDIT: Corner taken care of with bleach.

kirakiraMouse anxiety is common. I used to hear them so I couldn't sleep. Only 5 poops? That's GOOD news, it means you probably only have one mouse so far. Unless it's food, creepy as it is, mousified items aren't actually dangerous as far as I know. And if it really WAS mousified, you would smell it. The reason I didn't know I had mice for awhile was because I dog-sat a little old dog sometimes who wasn't very housebroken and I thought he piddled somewhere I couldn't find. Mouse urine is quite potent so if you aren't smelling it, the item hasn't been chewed and there's no poop or grease stains from traveling along it to another place--it wasn't mousified!

My ick tonight: a small bit of floor right in front of my washer and dryer. Covered with dirt (mud) chicken doo, and then, the final straw, chicken BLOOD!! YUCK!
My poor black rooster who I often bring into the house, got pecked on by another, mean, rooster, before I could get to him. So his comb was bleeding and he must have shook his head...blood all over this little space.
I could take the mud. I could take the dried do do, I could not take the blood.
So with lots of spray cleaner, my little steamer, and 3 towels, I scrubbed, scrapped, and wiped.
Again, not perfect, but FAR better than it was. Whew.

dear angela. What a mess! Good for you for getting it cleaned up. I hope your poor rooster is okay now too. BTW I loved him crowing in your videos. (Is crowing the word I'm looking for?) I thought he was trying to compete with you.

Thanks hollyhock. Rooster is okay, he's just old and this other rooster goes after him and pecks on his head and makes his comb bleed. I'll bring him into the kitchen today and give him a treat. I think this other rooster maybe needs to go to freezer camp. Grr.

Ick and trauma corner work tonight: threw some things out of the refrigerator. Sigh. A lot of food from when DH was sick, things that didn't get eaten, things he couldn't eat. I have been unable to cook for myself so there were things I had bought but didn't use, not much fortunately, just bags of slime that used to be vegetables. There is more to do, condiments that he liked but I did all I could stand to tonight.
