cyn - I loved having a warm place to dry things, too! I miss that. And the covers stayed pretty clean, but underneath them would be terrible, especially with all the cat hair wafting in there.

My ick today was the side of the dishwasher, and the floor beside it - that's where the garbage can lives. Ewww, that was icky! Lots of coffee grinds everywhere, and other yucky splashes from things bouncing out of the garbage. It's done now, and does it ever look nicer in that corner!
ETA: the stains on my shower stall floor were aggravating me so much that I had a brainstorm: they're not stains, they're hard water deposits! So out came the toilet bowl cleaner and a toothbrush - ta da! I got the worst of the brown scrubbed clean. Now there's only some slightly discoloured areas, that I can live with for now. I couldn't take another minute of those fumes, so I called it done. I'm very happy with the results though. Another ick gone!

Love the concept! I de-icked the moldy thing in the bottom of the kitchen garbage can that had snuck in under the liner somehow.

Blob of cat vomit, seen & cleaned in under a minute - but how did the dogs miss it, I wonder? Ewwwww!

My ick was my coffeemaker. The paper liner crumpled this morning and grounds went everywhere. It needed cleaning anyway, but it forced me to do it this morning.

my ick was my absolutely revolting refrigerator. Can't remember the last time I actually deep cleaned it and it has been a source of shame and avoidance of using it for a couple of months.... it is a thing of shining beauty now!

I'm annoyed with myself for having forgotten to do this last night, as I have a friend coming round today, hopefully, but: I'm going to try and get my sodding loo de-limescaled. I've attacked it with various things over the last week or so, to limited success, but DD's away now, so it's only me using the loo, meaning I can relatively safely leave stuff in overnight. Hoping that, if I can figure out how to get the water out of the bowl, a night of harpic gloop will make it gettable-off in the morning. If I can't get the water out, I'll try a night of limescale-remover tablets (the kind for use in the washing machine, used them to clean up my sink recently.)

Shoshatikvah, I'm not sure if your sodding loos are the same as our freaking toilets - but if you pour alot of water down (like, have a large bucket full) then that will force the water that's sitting in the bowl right down - but by not actually flushing the handle, it won't refill. That's how I get my water out, to clean it. You don't want to follow my advice on how to remove the deposits though, since mine was so neglected that only a razor blade and a screwdriver could dislodge them. I'm vigilantly removing them now, with a proper cleaner, before they get bad. It's a pain in the butt to clean it weekly, but it's the only way I can keep it clean. Good luck with yours!
I'm picking my stovetop as my ick today. I've already wiped it, but that's not tackling the actual grossness of the scene. Those aluminum rings are black, with crap fallen down through the elements. I miss my old stove, for that - with just the big solid circle for an element, it was so much easier to keep clean. There's a massive greasy buildup on the back area too. Wheee, what fun, eh?!

Thanks - I don't think I'd be able to carry a bucket full of water from the bathroom to the loo, sadly (they're not that far away, but far enough to be difficult) Ended up using the plunger to get about 2/3 of the water out, left the stuff soaking overnight, quite a lot came off with a bit of scrubbing this morning, going to try again tonight though I don't think I'm up to the plunger thing :/

shosha is there a shutoff value for the toilet? If you turn it off and then flush, the tank cant refill. A second flush with the near empty tank should bring the water level down to almost nothing in the bowl. When i cleaned my very neglected toilet, i used lime-away. The bottle says to let it sit for 20 minutes. I found no difference between letting it sit for 20 minutes and letting it sit overnight. Since it smells so bad and needs ventilation, i just do 20 minutes now. ive done two treatments on it and it is much better but not perfectly clean. There is alot of iron in my water so there was a very heavy mineral/rust/soil buildup, i dont think the former owner ever cleaned the bowl. Good luck with your loo.
