Thanks, cando. Great job filing so many papers!
I have washed lunch dishes, finished washing my dustbin, that has been soaking since morning and scanned everything for my friend - 60 pages in all.
I also finished reading one very interesting book. It is a second book I have read this week on how far away we live from the nature and how is it unsustainable. It is quite warning, having the Universe pass two books on the similar topic my way.

Wow everyone is working hard and getting stuff done As usual when I fall off the face of the Earth I am overwhelmed and depressed. Where I work shuts down for the holidays. I do have to go in on Monday but then that is it until Jan 5th. I had a huge pile of have to do stuff before work stopped for the year and the biggest piece I finished on last Friday at 4 PM ... so there should be nothing more to that until Jan 5th. The rest of everything is still piled up but I am officially calling it the holiday season. So now is the time of year where I usually feel like I am on the beach after a ship wreck and I am trying to make sense of it all and plan for the future. It is not quite so bad this year. More like dumped off on the shore with a tiny knap sack rather than the huge wreckage with me nearly dead on the beach like some years. Like every year I am going to try to catch up with work, home, life during this time and I will transfer this to the holiday thread. I need to get a ton of paperwork started for Mom, get a few work items that are killing me done, clean up the house/organize, and get some sort of diet/exercise plan going. Also I am going to Dr on Tuesday and will ask about my depression meds - optimization. I have only been on them for a couple of years at tiny doses when everything went to heck in flaming hand basket. So counting today, I have 16 days to pull myself together for the new year and get a large chunk of the stuff that has been bothering me/killing me done. Today my goal is just to mindlessly clean house, take stock of situation, go to bank, sort through mail, work on work items for 2 hours, go to grocery store, and call Mom. At is a little after 8 AM here and I am up.. So first business of the day is getting presentable and getting some breakfast including caffeine. Then cleaning out the car followed by mail sorting (I think I lost my debt card in the car and I need this for bank or to tell bank to get me a new one today). Starting in with things to do:

Good morning lucie, I've been thinking about my cleaning routine here, and I would like to do what you've done--get the place looking good in the morning, then anything else I got done that day would be extra. Cando, good work defending that DR table--maybe after the holiday rush is over, you can figure out another piece of furniture somewhere that can be the "temporary holding" area for important stuff that comes in. You need a place like that, it's not practical to think you'll ever put every piece of paper away the minute it's generated--but if you want to keep the table to eat on, you'll need another place to use. What's next on your list for today, besides the ever-present laundry? I slept later than I wanted to even though I was in bed at a good time yesterday. I really have to work on getting up earlier, especially since I have a regular morning dog walk for all of Christmas week. I'm going to try to completely declutter everything by the time I leave for midday paid work at 11:00. Let's make this last day of the week a really productive one!! Diane

Hi TML, we posted at the same time--I'm glad to see you make a list too--it's wonderful that you have some free time to tackle everything you want to do. You can do it, one baby step at a time.

Good morning, everyone! Great work, congrats on all those accomplishments! I've done my morning routine, and my ick, and now I'm going to enjoy my coffee here before I decided what else to do. With only 5 hours of sleep, and an afternoon shift today...ugh, atm it doesn't look too good.

Thanks Diane My list is sort of vague right now but at least it is a direction (sort of like a compass ). I have to keep remembering baby steps. That is why I want to disassociate from it all today if I can. Sort of a free form day where I don't worry about getting whatever done (now that I have found my debit card - woo hoo. It was the only must have on the list besides the cat food which the cat just reminded me). Back from breakfast - I went to a little local Mom and Pop diner. From the outside it looks tiny but when you get in it is really pretty big considering (sort of like optical illusion from outside - looks like it would hold 3 tables but inside two huge rooms must be at least 30 tables). It is a local hang out which I guess fits since I am a local Partially cleaned out the car. I dug all the mail I have been collecting in the front passenger floor out and put it in a trash bag for sorting (fill one huge black garbage bag). I also found by debit card while I was at it in the car. This was key because I need cash for the cleaning lady tomorrow and if I could not locate debit card I was going to have to make sure I got into bank to day before it closed. Next on my list: General trash cleaning: Laundry: Grocery is a priority (out of kitty's fav food):

TML - we must be in sync today - I just found my shoes that I was looking all over for, ha. Congrats on finding your debit card! Yup, baby steps...I'm doing 1 gross thing a day (as opposed to being really on the ball and going at my nastiness like a pro) and I'm really happy with the progress. It's easier to not pressure myself, or else I'll end up throwing in the towel and going back to bed, play cards on the computer, read, leave the house....anything but deal with it! I like baby steps, because it *is* moving forward. :-XCando, thank you again for the reminder yesterday! This year is the first time in ages that I sent out Christmas cards, because of you. I was so tempted to procrastinate (which, at this point, would lead to past years' "forget it, it's too late") so I'm very happy that I actually did it! And those expired items are kind of interesting, from an archaeological point of view: I found marshmallows that expired a few years ago, cleaning my kitchen the other day. Hmm, considering those things must have a 2 year shelf life, I worked my way back to: when was the last time we had s'mores. !

TML, do you enjoy your mug as much as I do mine? I so much enjoyed my coffee today, now I have my favourite mug both at work and at home. dtesposito, I can recommend it. I am a morning person so things are easier for me to do in that time of a day. Also I realised that if I sit down after breakfast (to turn on a computer or to read a book) I do not want to get up. So after I finish my breakfast and put the dishes into a sink, I just go and do what is needed. I do not think about it, just do it and the whole Saturday routine takes less than an hour and then I am usually done for the day - as you said, everything else is an extra. And my todays extras are: mended my little handbag - tore of a bit of seem when I last wore it packed a backpack for my Tuesday journey prepared some my Christmas bakings I will be giving to my neighbours on a plate (you might remember my great helpfull neighbour) I am off to order some books from a library

Thank you, Diane. dtesposito Your welcome, cyn . I'm sure I left out people... but I hope not My update: Oh no! My long update was totally eaten!!!
I have now totally cleared off the Breakfast Bar (between den & kitchen)!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was terribly dusty up there!!!!
2 phone calls made re: DH's Nutrisystem's gift cards that he bought at Costco. Finally was able to find out that these cards had already been used. Ton of time spent on something so ridiculous. After first call, DH tried to apply them to his next order.... but showed they had already been used. Had to call back... this time they said there was no balance left. The first time there was a $100 on each of these cards. DH said that he had used them, but in the past I found a $70 balance left on one that he said that about. So, I wanted to double check before I threw them away. He said that he had set them down until the order processed and forgot to toss them. Aarrgghh! typical stuff.... 2 batteries that aren't expired yet... put those in Old Battery Box. in Office Supply Closet.. Don't know if they were new or used up. Will figure out another time. Tossed the following: Bag of Sees Lollipops that was dust covered and had been opened, clear plastic spider, broken paper clip, car decal from where DH went to high school. A couple CDs (programs not music).
Put Linksys, bag of parts, CDs, "IGo" pouch of cables in Office, but really hate just moving stuff around. Keep in mind that everything was dust covered.
Put one new (but in dusty package) hearing aid battery in old Battery Box in Office Supply Closet. It is probably unused. Put 3 cell phones & 1 cover in Old Cell Phone box in top of Office Supply Closet. Put 17 papers into recycle bag
Now, I only have 3 items on the Breakfast Bar. Owl Bank that belonged to DH's Grandmother, wooden bowl for fruit, and a box of kleenex.
DH cooperated with going thru some CDs and told me verbally about the other items while he was in the bed...
Filed 5 papers.

Hi TML, mmm, pizza for lunch sounds great--I hope it gave you lots of cleaning energy!
I'm home from mid-day work, I ate lunch and took a long rest. Now I have to finish getting my place back to where it was before the repair visit this week. I still have a bag to empty from my trip to my sister's, and my desk is filling up again. So I'd better get started.

Hello everyone I am feeling tired this morning because some neighbours had a late and noisy party last night. Usually I don't mind the odd party - I just put the bedroom fan on low and can tune it out, but there was some shouting last night - yuck, also a lot of smoke from their bbq. And now I will have to listen to other neighbours complaining about the party - I don't know which is worse. * made coffee * recycles out * dishes * check recently washed clothes for smoke smell from neighbours bbq - hope I wont need to rewash everything * remember to drink water today

Hi Jendela, I hope you don't have to rewash anything because of the barbecue. I really hate when people have these near my place, especially so because I'm a vegetarian--so the smell of animals cooking is especially gross to me!
I've gotten a lot of little miscellaneous things done, but haven't really focused in one area yet. Hopefully next time I report I will have several rooms looking okay. I was going to watch a Christmas movie tonight but then I would not be able to move around and clean, so I'm listening to Christmas music instead.

Thanks Diane, although I am not vegetarian I totally agree about cooking smells. I will get DH to check washing for any pong, both wood smoke & food. Good luck with decluttering, I look forward to your next update.
I have done some dishes, now to keep on with my list. Anything done would be good.
