Master Bedroom has been purged -- except under the bed and jewelry. Those challenges are for another month in the distant future. I have 2 drawers and 2 cabinets left to purge in the kitchen. The Challenge in DDs room should be complete by Wednesday. The Challenge in DSs room should be complete by Friday.
This week I had some trouble with staying consistence and I had to do more work on my challenges this weekend then I had planned. But I am setup for the coming week and if all goes well I should accomplish my goals I had set for the month of January. It is now time to start thinking about February.

Managed to finish my master closet - we got the drawers about 10 days ago but I was out of town, then had company, then had office work to do. But today I unpacked 10 boxes and loaded into the new closet system. There may be more clothes, etc. floating around but at least I now know where it all will go when I find it. Hoping to unpack the office by the end of the month. Good luck everyone with meeting your goals!! PC

Roadrunner, you did great--I hope your son and daughter appreciate the work you did!
Phoenixcat, a nice new closet--now, will you need to purge anything so that it all fits when you find everything? Or is clothing not something you have too much of? Thankfully, that's one item I have never collected!
I actually did a little book work today, I listed some books and was able to get a small shopping bag of book donations out of one of the boxes, so I should soon have a second box emptied. I got a couple more book orders today, most of them are small amounts of money, but they add up and will be a help with my expenses this month. So I should really push to list more books this coming week.
Just 6 days left in January, and the challenge will be half over!
How is everyone else doing?
Diane

Things have been very hectic around here lately. I was able to get older ds thru his mid-terms last week and he did fairly well with a couple of disappointments. 1) Keep up with all of my medical appointments and meds - Have made all my appointments until insurance refused to pay for a couple of items but am going tomorrow to get those tests done. I do have two meds I need to pick up but have to wait until I get money tomorrow. 2) seriously work with older ds with his schooling since he is seriously struggling - he was able to pass all of his mid-terms and seems to be more into school at this point. 3) get my room cleaned and organized especially all of the paperwork - My room still needs some touch-ups but I have everything set up the way I want it and all the important papers have been filed and the filing cabinet is organized. What I have left to work on is my closet shelves and scanning papers onto flash drives at this point 4) Get all my paperwork from my business last year together for taxes - taxes are all finished I just need to pay for them to be e-filed for the state which should happen when I get money tomorrow I definitely need to start focusing on getting my room finished and the papers scanned so I can seriously focus on my health more than I have been and maybe even start working on my sewing again since that seriously helped me before. I also want to start working on my storage unit but may let best friend have most of the items in there since she found out she may be getting her two nephews and she is still waiting to get a place to live so she is going to need lots of items for when she does move. I figure since boys and I may be staying here I may as well let her have what she needs at this point.

D2M--cool, you get a free day to work on your goal! Okay, everyone who stays home over the next two days can get a lot of work done on their goals! Unless you lose power, of course, in which case you'll be working hard to get through until your power comes back on. And except for Andrea, who I'm pretty sure should be resting, according to doctor's orders! Diane

I had a hellish trip to the Social Security Administration office today, where, after 90 minutes of waiting my turn, I was told there was nothing they could do to help me because I didn't have a current ID. Which I need the SS card in order to get. So I'm screwed, basically! Diane

Oh Diane - I'm so sorry. That just doesn't make sense to me because a birth certificate is how you get the number in the first place. Do you have any old tax forms or work records with with SS on them? I'm sorry if you have mentioned those records before - I've forgotten. I know that it is a huge pain but maybe if you can reach a supervisor? Or, do you have any social agencies in your area? This has to be a relatively common problem among people who have lost their things due to homelessness or disaster. Maybe even the red cross could advise? Don't give up - you got the birth certificate - I just think you need to reach the right person for the SS - you were probably talking to an "auto no" (they "ought to know" but instead "auto no") . With agencies like this - it really can take the squeaky wheel to get anywhere. I have faith - baby steps! And to answer your earlier question - our closet is fairly big and I also have a hard to reach corner that I'm using for totes of stuff that is used infrequently so stuff should have a place to go if I find it. I'm not really a clothes person either at least compared to lots of friends. But I do tend to go up/down in sizes and hate to get rid of stuff that is only one-two sizes smaller and bought recently. Next up is finishing the office - PC

Hi phoenixcat, I have several things with my social security number on it, but they wouldn't accept any of it. Including a student ID with both my birth date and SS number. They said it was too old to be used. Because of course, once your ID expires your birth date changes and you morph into an entirely different person! Diane

I was able to finish e-filing my tax return so now I just need to wait and see when I should get my money back. I have also decided that since my filing is caught up the item I will use to take it's place is scanning papers onto my flash drive so I can get rid of these stacks of paper. My goal for scanning is a minimum of 50 pages a day so that it will be finished by the end of February hopefully. The last item in my room after the scanning is clearing out my closet shelves but I want to make a big dent in scanning before I work on clearing out the closet shelves. Got my medical tests done yesterday morning and some things were great but other things weren't so good. The good news is that when they did the spinal tap they found that the cancer in the fluid was no longer there! Then when they did the cat scan they said the lumps on my spine had shrunk considerably which made doctor and I very happy. On the bad side my vitamin levels and white blood count were still extremely low so they had to push iv fluids and meds and she called for me to see a psychiatrist and a neurologist since they also figured out that I had another TIA and she is concerned that I am heading towards another stroke if I don't take care of myself.
Diane - As you said I definitely need to rest and work on easier things that won't strain or stress me out.

Andrea--you made an avatar! I thought "who is that person posting"? Scanning documents sounds good, that shouldn't be too strenuous. Just make sure you have a good backup system in place! Excellent news about the lumps shrinking and finding no cancer cells! Hopefully the doctors can give you good advice about fixing the rest of what they found. Diane

Andrea, That is great news. Please take care of yourself and rest when needed. Diane, Did the SS office have any suggestions? They need to offer solutions or tell you where to get help. At the town hall where you were born is where to find a birth certificate. You will need to pay for a copy of that. Perhaps they can help you. Sorry I can't remember all the details. I finished my taxes today because we are having a blizzard and I did not have to work. I still have papers in my mudroom to take care of. I have to go to work tomorrow. Everyone around here is having the day off.

I finished my taxes todayWow, great work! I'm still waiting for my bank interest statement which I'm sure they will mail on the last possible day, Jan. 31st. D2M, I asked them several times--then what do I do? And I reworded it--I'm sure other people have had this problem, what do they do? They just kept repeating that all they could tell me was what their rules were, that they couldn't tell me what to do! I don't think they thought their job was to help, their job was to repeat the rules. I do understand that they have rules, and I understand that the rules are there to protect MY social security number, so no one pretends to be me and gets my number. The thing I don't get is why an expired ID can't prove who you are--my photo is on there, I have all kinds of other things with my name on it, things I've just received in the mail--that should be proof that I'm who I say I am. I'm much closer to my goal, now that I have all my old mail in one spot, and easy to access. I'm going to be a shredding fiend next week!

Cyn, don't burn out your shredder. I know! You can shred in between sorting a box from your doom room! Diane
