Well, I didn't get them all done (got really shaky and sick after standing up for a while (I wonder if I locked my knees while I was washing? It was really weird). I did get most of them done and a BUNCH of them packed up so I can't just avoid washing and use a million cups (kids too). I need to get some boxes from the attic to pack more dishes/appliances to give away.

I've failed the last 2 nights but I have today to do those dishes and be caught up. I noticed a big difference smell wise when I was caught up with the dishes.

Over lunch, put away hand washed dished draining in dishwasher. Loaded DW, is ready to run after work. (it's a portable, so I don't leave the water hooked up.)

Warning: my opinion ahead... I think that as soon as you say "I hate doing dishes" you've just shot yourself in the foot, and you will never master the task. I flat-out eliminated the H word in regards to my dishes. Replaced it with It worked. Now the dishes get done every day without pain. Try it. papermoon, I have been pondering this ever since you posted. It is a very valid point. My mom always said, don't tell your children they are monsters, or they will be. We become what we are repeatedly told we are. so, quit telling ourselves, "I hate (whatever)." I love my clean tidy kitchen, pretty soon, it will be...

May 28, 2015 Thursday I'm working in the kitchen this evening. My housekeeper/helper is coming over in the morning, and I don't want her to see this mess! I love doing dishes, I love doing dishes, I love doing dishes (to quote a famous papermoon!) I'm thankful that I have hot water, soap, clean towels and everything I need to wash my mountain of dishes and to clean my kitchen. Here goes... It helps me to list all of the steps. put away several items including garbage from left counter washed left counter refilled 10 water bottles, put them in fridge placed three dry towels under drying rack left counter washed bowl and spoon from right sink, set out to dry did initial scrub of right sink rinsed and stacked dishes from left sink initial scrub of left sink washed load #1 of dishes, set them out to dry brought two mugs, one knife, and two water bottles from other rooms, put them in the to-be-washed stack turned workout music on for inspiration set out clean, dry towel for hands dried & put away load #1---I call it the disappearing dishes. Better than having a mountain of clean, dry dishes. And, it gives me more room in which to work. load #2 in sink to soak dried large pan, large bowl, put away moved coffee maker back to left counter cleaned coffee maker scrubbed, washed, and dried large colander, put it away (I was thinking of throwing it out because it had a rusty soap pad stuck to it) turned off music due to getting on my nerves... took a short break, called AlfE, he's working late at the office continuing to play Words with Friends and Dice with Friends---it kind of breaks up the monotony of cleaning. It's nearly 1:00 a.m. to wash dishes currently in sink---load #2 dry and put away load #2 wash mason jars, set out to dry, leave in drainer o'nite wash load #3 misc dishes on right counter, set out to dry clean right counter rinse & stack dishes on kitchen table, putting them on right counter neatly

I am going to unload and reload my dw as part of my "8 minute uprising"

Ok, so I took the oven dishes and saucepans out of the dw which look after 3 dw tabs and an intensive cycle like they ain't been washed at all grrr. I loaded with dirty dishes and put it on just as my 8 minute timer went off so I am pleased with that and feel I have achieved something even if it's small. I am gonna be forced to hand wash oven dishes and pans as the dw can be pretty hit and miss . ETA: I emptied sitting room bin and some rubbish that I'd threw and missed and picked up some rubbish on sofa beside me. Tip of the iceberg but it's better than it was. to everybody else for their efforts!!
