Oh dear, I've overdone it a bit and will have to leave the dishes today. Thankfully, the cleaner comes tomorrow, and there's more kitchen floor available to wash than the last few weeks (okay, months) so she can do that and clear the dishes for me.

Yus, I was very relieved to find one who would work around the mess and clean the bits she can get to. It's mostly just the kitchen (I'm hoping if I can sort the place out a bit more, I might be able to find the money for her to come for an extra hour on another day and do the bathroom/hoovering upstairs...) but it's so nice on a Friday evening to have clean dishes and floor in there!

Tonight I'm starting the monthly routine of making a month's worth of meals to freeze for my big dog. It takes me several days to shop for, cook, mix, and pack up and freeze a month's worth of food. In good months I keep up with cleaning up the mess as I go during the prepping and cooking process. Bad months...well you know how that goes. Hopefully this is a good month.
Tonight I am cooking the lentils and eggs. When they are done I will put them in the giant tub that I mix all the ingredients in, and then I will IMMEDIATELY wash, dry, and put the bean pot and skillet away.

WTG getting caught up wynken ! That's always a relief. Serendipity thanks yes she loves it but I don't know how long I can keep it up! It is sooooo much work and expensive. She was diagnosed with liver problems last spring and not long after started refusing any and all types of canned and dry commercial dog food, even with yummy stuff that I would mix in trying to get her to eat it. Believe me I tried everything. She lost a lot of weight over the summer so I had to do something and as soon as I started cooking for her in August she started eating again and gained the weight back and aside from the ongoing liver issues appears to look and feel great. Even her arthritis is much much better! She runs and plays like a pup now, not the 10 yr old dog that she is with liver issues with and a very bad back! Last summer she was moving so slow, so achy from the arthritis, and so skinny I didn't know how much longer she'd be around. So I am very happy with the results of the homemade diet but it's a real budget killer and the work involved with getting all of the ingredients, particularly finding the meat at a "good" price, is overwhelming. Then there's the 2-3 day cooking and mixing process to make month's worth of food. It's become a part time job. I am still working on streamlining the system and not making such big mess, some months are better than others. Agghhh sorry didn't mean to get side tracked! This is the dish washing thread. So last night I went to bed with the kitchen all cleaned up but this morning had to pull all of the cooked ingredients for the dog food out of the fridge, finish mixing them all up, portioned it, and put it all in the freezer. Now I have a bunch of pots and tubs that need scrubbing but I'm about out of dish soap. And there's the mess on the counters and sink that needs swishing and swiping. For now I will just soak the pots in hot water and unload the dw. At some point today I'll go buy some dish soap. ETA: diluted what was left of the dish soap and washed up most of the pots and pans. Now need to swipe counters, scrub stovetop, and shine sink. Unloaded and reloaded dw and washed blender. I hope not to do anymore cooking today because I don't want to do anymore dishes!!! So I mixed up a big bowl of overnight oats and put it in the fridge, it will be ready after a few hours of soaking and chilling and then I plan to eat it straight from the big bowl for my next few meals

Well, there's a couple of cups in the sink but otherwise it's clear. Got to figure out what to have for dinner, I was going to make a chicken casserole, but even with pre-chopped vegetables it's quite a lot of work and would make a fair amount of washing up.

I know what you mean, shoshatikvah!
I have the "makings" for a chicken potpie, but my "inner brat" is whining, " . . . but it's so much work!!!"
