Some trauma corner work tonight. Did some clean-out of the refrigerator, old food that had been purchased for DH that he couldn't eat. Some food that had been brought back from the cancer center.
I have been unable to deal with cooking for myself so there were some things I bought in a vain attempt to deal with meals. Bags of slime that used to be vegetables.
Anyway, there is more to do in the kitchen but I did what I could stand to do tonight.

Glad you got your fridge clean Angela. I have some slimy things in mine too and still some juice that I bought DH in a vain effort to get liquid in him his last two days. That's got to go!

Thanks wynken. Thanks imamess. I'm not done in the kitchen yet, some things in the cupboard like jello cups and such that just pull me right back to last summer and the struggles. I'll keep going today. I need this done with.

baby steps - just take one thing at a time if that's what you can do imamess and angela. Then tell yourself well done. I'm finding it a little easier to have a helper here, and to work on little corners of stuff for a short while. Its not quite the same as a trauma corner but I have found it traumatic having anyone here, particularly 'helping' in the past. I've found mentioning a few places and having them chose what they feel there is time to do the last 2 times.

Today, my trauma corner is the kitchen at Mother's/my house.

Is the saying, "No rest for the wicked," or is it "the weary"? Thank you all for the cheers. I emptied all the nasty stagnant water in the glasses and bowls. I soaked all the dishes. I scrubbed and loaded them in the DW to run, but then I got called in to work and forgot to turn it on. When I got home, I turned it on first thing, then went looking for my barn shoes so I could go check on all the animals - we've had two ice storms this week, and another one due in the morning. couldn't find the shoes, so started a systematic search, from the back door to the kitchen.....the dishwasher was gushing water out the bottom. I turned it off, grabbed pans and towels - thank goodness I didn't try to run it while I was at work. So I have all the dishes to wash by hand. As DGS well pointed out, I've got to get the house cleaned up before I can call a repairman. It's 11 pm. I am not even going to think about it tonight.

Oh no, dayeanu, I'm so sorry! How discouraging. I'm glad it didn't run while you were at work. Sometimes it's cheaper to just replace a dishwasher rather than get it repaired, fyi. That's what we just did, though we have a source for used ones that made it an easy decision. Can you bring a tote into the kitchen as you wash, and put any unwanted dishes in there, and then donate the tote as soon as you're done? If you have too many between the different houses, I mean. Please ignore if it will be more trouble than it's worth. Take care and sleep well and leave tomorrow's troubles to tomorrow if you can!

wit, this dishwasher is probably 40 years old. It's harvest gold. What decade was that popular? So yes, if it's a dishwasher problem, and not a broken water line, I'll probably just get a new one. .....when I get the house cleaned up enough to let someone in.

dayeanu (hugs) I'm sorry about the dishwasher. I'm glad you forget to turn it on before work. I hope you found your barn shoes. Hopefully the storm won't be bad. I hate ice storms. I'd rather have six inches of snow than ice. Snow you can at least get some traction on. I hope you can get a good nights rest. Tomorrow is another day. Maybe the dishwasher is something simple like a Tupperware lid blocking the drain. At least I can hope that it is.

dayeanu I think harvest gold was popular in the fifties. My old house was built in 57 and I had harvest gold and this strange red that was popular back then too in the kitchen. I'm hoping it's just a loose hose or something blocking the drain.

I'll check tomorrow.
