Six more bags Swamped? The end must be in sight soon.
I hope that everyone gets their recycling and rubbish collected and dropped off despite the weather.

I have boxes to get rid of but recycling missed my recycling so instead of Wednesday they are coming Saturday so I have more to toss. I also am getting rid of bulky plastic storage containers that fit in closet and moving stuff to under the bed storage to eliminate the baby going thru her toys. They will be reused for my emergency supplies.

Dropped four bags of bags at the grocery store tonight. I put them in one of my huge reusable shopping bags to make it easier to carry. So i carried it into the lobby and put them in the bin. Then i did some shopping and i had my bag with me so i didnt get any more plastic bags. Im going to use this trick to unload the rest of my stash and help me get into the habit of bringing the reusuable shopping bags into the store. Because really it doesnt do any good if i leave them in the car.

It certainly is possible to operate without using lots of plastic bags. I would be rich if I had £1 for each time I have said "I don't need a bag thank you" during the last few years! My shopping bag on wheels and other non-plastic bags have helped a lot. Congratulations on getting rid of so much.

Ihave a big box that I wanted to put out the trash this week. I took all of the old crappy boxes and collapsed them and shoved them into the big box. So I have a nice big box of all kinds of cardboard to be recycled. I could not put it out with the trash this week though because we have so much snow. Hopefully it will clear out a little bit and I can put it out next week.
I am up to 3 plastic shopping bags stuffed full of plastic shopping bags. I meant to bring them to the store to recycle and totally forgot them when i went to get my groceries. so I decided to play a game this weekend. I took a bag of bagsto my bedroom to see how many bags garbage I could bag up. . I think I used almost all of the bag bag.
It was satisfying to fill a bag and tie it off. I challenged myself to fill a bag every time i went in my room. I would try to do numerous bags during a tv show.
I will keep at it till my bags are gone. Or the trash. Whatever comes first. Hopefully trash! !!

ohblondie great job on filling up those bags. I hope they can pick up your box next week. I was worried today they wouldnt pick up mine with the sleet/freezing rain mix but they did. Which is really good since i filled it past the top and didnt add my box of boxes because it was too icy. Im hoping the weather clears up soon, the snow storm every Monday is getting old.

They never picked up the trash. Don't know if it was because of the weather or if i still owe on my bill. ...my two recycle bins are buried. From the falling snow and thr snow plows.
Maybe tomorrow.......

gosh that stinks. My guys usually come monday around 11 am. I have therapy at noon. I decided if the can wasnt empty by the time i came home, i would bring it in and wait for next week. Otherwise it would wind up buried or hit by the plow. There is so much snow i actually had to put it in the street next to the snow bank. Its just so hard this time of year to get things out of the house. I hope that they come pick it up tomorrow. I just looked out the window and it snowed some more, maybe an inch.

More bags of bags and boxes of boxes ready to go! How annoying for them not to pick up after people have gone to all the trouble of collecting and putting stuff out.

it's encouraging reading about all your successes getting rid of these things!
i'll join in. i also have empty box and bag hoarding tendencies (for sorting, i say- but then they end up full of unsorted stuff.)
clear bins or bags work best for me; or shelves where i can "see" what i have, especially my fabrics. right now i have fabric all boxed up and it's not working for me. i presently have a box stuffed with clear plastic bags (to keep my fabric dry and keep moths and other bugs out when it is boxed up in cardboard in the downstairs storage unit. but really - it makes me nervous to keep it down there. there are mice and rats sometimes; i don't keep any food down there but they have eaten my flower and vegetable seeds! i don't want them ruining my fabric! this needs re-thinking.
the things i need to reduce and keep an eye on, so they don't multiply, are: empty boxes plastic bags bubble wrap paper grocery and shopping bags plastic "to do" food containers canning jars and lids (i don't can much.)
successes so far: 1) culled a kitchen cabinet containing my plastic food storage containers - got rid of half. it's a start! 2) got rid of 50 or so plastic to go food containers, some with lids, that i was saving for mosaic tesserae. (never mind that i have two boxes of them in storage!) 3) a grocery bag stuffed with other grocery bags of various sizes is going OUT to the food bank tomorrow.
i'm going to my storage unit tomorrow or wednesday. i have half a dozen very nice empty boxes which i will either fill with flea mkt stuff or take to the school for the alternative school to use for book shipping.
i can easily get more of this stuff; must learn to cull it. a lot of my "hoard" is trash like this.
