I believe there is already a book thread in favorites; not sure. General is the place to go. If someone has something private relative to a book, et al, it can go into their blogs, or into a new thread in Byways. Yes, Ponygirl, there is a book thread in Favorites. But I am thinking it would be nice to have an area where there could be a separate thread for each book, so that someone who was thinking about reading a particular book, or someone who was currently reading a particular book, could easily reference it and read about others' responses to that book. There could be an ongoing discussion about a particular book, in a place that was easy to find, not scattered or buried in several old threads.

I totally agree. It would be just like our own library! ( , just posted in nifty's new thread about home libraries.)

I believe each book should have its own thread in a separate section. That would be smokin' great! Admins? What say you?

Halfway through the book. Learning a LOT about our culture of consumerism. Very revealing...

Wow after reading the Amazon page I'm thinking this may be a book to have physically so my husband can read it and I can pass it on to my kids. Those of you who have read it do you think so? And does it cover stuff in general (such as my husband hauling crap home from job sites that would have otherwise been tossed) or just new buying? I'm guessing it is just crap in general. I have a kindle but I don't share it, .

This thread has spurred me to wonder again if a book review thread could be set up in General and listed in the scroll bar. Each book we discover could have a separate thread for our reviews. We would know where to go and guests could also receive book suggestions without having to register if they are not ready. Love this idea! Not sure if this is what you meant, mynicehome, but it could be in the listing on the main page: Introductions General Board Books and ReviewsListzilla Public Blogs Technical Help Or should it be in the "Private" section? Photos Private Blogs Byways Books and ReviewsI'm going to try calling some of the mods again. angelinahedgehog, messymimi, or Script...can you take a look at this post and tell us what you think? Thanks!

ponygirl, I found it on eBay for cheap and free ship so I bought it. When done I'll pass it on or put it in my booth, depending on how it is. My son has a book he left behind called "Snoop: What your stuff says about you." I plan to read it too. Anyone here on paperbackswap.com?

mynicehome, moonglow, and ponygirl, the mods have been discussing this. While we can see the use of having an easy way to find book threads, we're a bit leery of creating a board just for book threads. It sounds like a solution that's likely to create some problems while it fixes some. - If the Books board were public, moving By-ways threads into it would make them public.
- If the Books board were private, moving General threads into it would make them private.
- If private threads stayed private and public threads stayed public, things would stay (roughly) the same as they are now: with book threads scattered in several areas, especially since there would be nothing to stop people from posting book threads wherever they wanted. (The mods typically don't move threads all that often, and we'd prefer not to start.)
For any option, it seems that an index list (like the one sidestep maintains at takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/13863/reference-books-on-hoarding-squalor ) would be vital. Since we have this already, our inclination is leave the Books board in the realm of interesting ideas worth revisiting later.

Thank you angelinahedgehog, and the rest of the mods for giving the idea some think-time. There are some sticky points, as you've explained. I appreciate that you haven't entirely ditched the idea. I guess our good habits of gathering like with like have spread to the board as well!

All good points; thank you, angelinahedgehog and all the mods, for due consideration. Perhaps we could carry on as we have.

Stuffocation is really a good read. I'm headed into the last third of the book.

I never heard of this book before but I picked it up at the library today to read on night shift.

I've just reserved this at my library (another good habit I've acquired since joining SooS -- no more buying books to add to the Stuff Mountains!)
I look forward to absorbing and probably applying what I find within, and posting a review here.
It would be good to see your reviews and thoughts, too, all who are reading it now.
