I was home all day, until 6:30 p.m. w/o my hearing aids in, so I enjoyed the sounds of silence. No barking dogs, no ringing telephone, no screeching of the car brakes (I live on a busy corner,) no truck horns honking. I also did not turn on the TV, so that added to the silence. No mental noise.

I am enjoying the "sound of silence", as I am the only one up so far today. (BTW, I love that song. Simon and Garfunkle did it in 1965.) We're going to dust both TV's today for the sound challenge also. 3G

- This morning I was awakened by the SOUNDS of dogs barking and the SOUNDS of the garbage truck. I got up quickly and dumped out the cat litter box as part of the Number 16 challenge here: takeonestepatatime.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=action&action=display&thread=2730While doing the "no-regrets" theme of that challenge, I listened to the SOUNDS of the dirty litter pouring into the trashcan and the SOUNDS of the clean litter pouring into the empty litterbox. Then I brought the trash out to the outdoor bin and listened to the SOUNDS of the bag falling into the bin. And I emptied more recyclables from my indoor bin into my outdoor bin, and listened to all those SOUNDS. I did all of this very fast, as I was trying to do it all as part of one 16-minute challenge for the other thread. Then I wheeled my garbage can and my recycle bin out to the curb and listened to the SOUNDS of the wheels on my gravel driveway as I went. And throughout this process, I imagined I was getting rid of regrets along with the trash. As I had been awakened by the garbage truck SOUNDS, I knew they had already collected from my side of the street, so I raced across the street with my bins, and placed them for collection there, as I knew the truck would soon be arriving to do that other side of the street. The wheels of the bins made a different SOUND crossing the paved street. I was amused to hear the SOUNDS of my own voice. I do have a habit of talking to myself, but don't usually notice myself doing it. But since I was paying attention to SOUNDS, I heard myself grumbling and muttering as I dealt with the trash. I didn't realize how much I do that! I walked back to my house from the curb, listening to the SOUNDS of my sandals flapping. I sang a silly song as I came inside. The SOUNDS of my off-key singing were more pleasant to listen to than the SOUNDS of my grumbling and muttering NOTE: This description might SOUND very complicated to you, but it was really just one 16-minute task.UPDATE: I just heard the garbage truck arriving at the other side of the street and the SOUNDS of them collecting my trash. And I can now hear the SOUNDS of my cat using the fresh clean litterbox. -

I listened to a new-to-me radio station while I washed dishes. I used to listen to the radio all the time while washing dishes, but I got bored with the same-old, same-old stations; so, I quit listening to radio for several months. I decided that it was time to find a new station and to resume my radio-listening-while-washing-dishes habit.
