Yesterday, I did a whole bunch of these various daily "NUMBER challenges" and also some of the "fun creative word-of-the-day" challenges.
I was moved by "fun creative" challenge #14 .... because the word of the day was "Balance".
takeonestepatatime.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=action&action=display&thread=2715I seem to go for periods of time without cleaning, such as when I was recently sick ... and then I try to do a whole lot in one day to make up for it.
I also forget to enjoy life and have fun... I seem to put my whole life on hold, waiting until I am desqualored.
So ...... I decided to do something "Different" for
this thread we are doing right here --
the "Number Challenge" #17.I chose to open one of my inspirational books and read CHAPTER SEVENTEEN, without having any memory what it might contain. I had a pile of several books, and I randomly grabbed one.
I got out my Debtors Anonymous book
"A Currency of Hope"
This book is a collection of very short stories of recovery from "financial squalor", as contributed by various anonymous persons -- or as they phrase it -- recovery from "compulsive debting".
So ... I opened the book to
Story #17.
! This one story is NOT about recovery from financial debting.
This story is about recovery from "time-debting" and "self-debting".
("Time debting" is about debting one aspect of one's schedule to pay for another aspect of one's schedule.
"Self-debting" is about denying oneself reasonable safety and reasonable comfort).
There are also other things discussed in the story, but I will focus here on what is relevant to us here in ListZilla with our many tasks.
The name of Story #17 is "Is it Time for Me Yet?"The story is all about balancing many things ... and especially finding balance in managing one's time.
The author tells about how her parents
"were so absorbed in the daily routines of work, housework, and child rearing, that they never got around to living personal dreams."
The author grew up to become someone who worked too hard at the same things, and her health began to fail.
She discovered she had the tendency to "postpone all dreams until the laundry was done."
{Quote from story:} My magical thinking about time was very strong. I believed I could accomplish long daily "to do" lists, still having time to play and rest.{end quote}
Her sponsor encouraged her to have some fun in life.
Her sponsor encouraged her to make REASONABLE to-do lists, "balanced between spiritual, business, fun, and home".
The author concluded with some inspirational insights about nurturing goals and dreams.
It was a lovely story, and it was
only three pages long !
Story number SEVENTEEN in the book.-
