I agree, it does seem an invasion of privacy but I guess if their policies keep the buildings better it would be worth it. I'm so glad you got a kindly inspector & that you can get help from your church. Sounds like you are almost there. Yah!

Congratulations, Rennie. For those who do not understand the process: In the US, there is a public housing authority, which is called HUD (Housing and Urban Development) which is mandated & regulated by federal law. It is actually the Department of Housing and Urban Development, which has oversight authority of all publicly subsidized housing. They are required by law to ensure the public housing meet certain standards and the unit inspections are only a small part of that process. In 2008, the inspections changed (became more stringent, I would think, given the length of the inspection form.) Here is the bulletin that introduced the new PHA (public housing assessment).
