My ceramic dog collection. I collected them for years when I was younger but haven't displayed them in decades, and probably never will. I will keep one or two of them, then let the rest go to the thrift store for some other child (or adult) to love. Whoa now! Do you have any German shepherds in your collection? Because I'll buy them from you - I'm serious! Actually, I was daydreaming about having a thread where all we do is trade our treasures... Sorry, cyn. I don't have any German Shepherds. I tended to gravitate toward the smaller breeds. I do like your idea for a thread where we trade our treasures.

Unswamped, you are so clever--I love this! At first, I thought that we were to do all 20!!It's a scavenger hunt (well, I guess a reverse scavenger hunt since it's getting rid of things instead of collecting them). So aren't we supposed to do as many as possible? Does the winner get to take home the worst find? Like Jendela's stinky electronic steamer? Diane

dtesposito you are supposed to do all 20. it is kind of a reverse scavenger hunt but we are collecting items from our homes, we are just getting rid of them as we find them. The winner will be the one who does the most, i will have to think of a special prize for that. In a way though, we will all be winners by having less clutter in our house. I hope you can have some fun with it, you always bring good energy to threads. why dont i have the winkie smilie in my smilies? Did i declutter him?

Item/Clue #3
Something new, still with a tag Not quite right, not a keep In order to return Put it back in the bag Some towels I bought because they pull together all my colors perfectly. The problem: the tag says that they grow in size every time you wash them. Gotta wonder what they treated them with. They are in the bag and out to the trunk of my car for the next time I go near that store. Unswamping, you have really put a lot of time and effort in on this party. Thank you! I think I'm going to get rid of a lot by following these clues.

They sound pretty but yeah, what did they treat them with? Most stuff shrinks in the wash.

OMG, does that mean I need to go dumpster diving and retrieve the steamer?? Diane, I will fish it out before the next bin collection and arrange to send it to you COD!
I am hoping to get as many items crossed off the list as possible, but don't want to put myself in the position of having to reclaim the steamer.

thank you for the cake and coffee Unswamping - I didn't think of the possibility of potpourri. It is not normal for Australian homes to have a basement, but I did wonder if the steamer had been stored next to some strongly scented substance for some unknown reason. Anyway, thanks for that suggestion - as we speak, I have a gift card burning a hole in my wallet and a new steamer would be the perfect present to myself, especially if I do well in the scavenger hunt.
thanks again for such a fun challenge.

Item/Clue #1
I am quite fancy I am quite cool You don’t use me You’re not in cooking school 's Well, it's not really fancy or cool: it's just a very old, very used, very worn frying pan. It's totally unusable now, because all the non-stick has peeled (yes, peeled) off of it. I wonder how much of that I ate?? It's in the trash, waiting to be taken out. I have two perfectly good frying pans; why have I felt the need to keep this one?

I tossed out a rusted Trifle pan at least I think that's what it's called, it has fluted edges, and an indention on the top that you're supposed to put fruit in after you bake the cakish thing in it. It's pretty, it's fancy, and it's RUSTED!! I am never going to get around to cleaning it.

Unswamped, I don't think I'll play, because I've done so much purging in the last few years that I know I wouldn't be able to find at least half of the items, maybe more. Which I guess I should be thankful for. But I will watch along because this is the most fun way of getting rid of things that I've ever seen.
OMG, does that mean I need to go dumpster diving and retrieve the steamer
Jendela, I would purposely make sure I didn't win so I don't get the stinky steamer--so I don't think you have to worry. And maybe a better prize will show up--like seashell's toxic frying pan?
I AM trying to think of something that starts with Z though, but the only thing I can come up with is Ziploc bag!

Wow, look at everyone tossing! seashell Thanks anyway! Great idea with the tasty teflon pan, I know I've got at least one I can part with - yes, I ate the bits too. dtesposito Lucky you, Purge Queen! You're a *great* example for us - I've also gotten rid of lots of things in the past few weeks, so some of these might be harder to dig up than others. I know for a fact I have nothing with a tag to return, since I've gone into shopping exile, . And getting rid of all those clothes the other week has me purged out in that department. But the books...I'm going to *rock* that one!
