Hi; I discovered this forum yesterday & wow what a great bunch! I started Flylady several years ago & it is a wonderful system but unfortunately I have slid back into chaos, & I think this group will be very helpful because you are so kind & totally understanding without judging. Like so many others, my pets (8 cats) contribute to my problem, but they are not totally to blame in my case. They don't help, but it is certainly not all their fault. I have a heritage home that needs work in some areas so that discourages me. I work full-time & as a "mature" woman just don't have the pep I used to have - just want to crash when I get home & the weekends just never seem long enough. I would die of embarassment if anyone saw my upstairs & mortified if they saw my basement. The main floor is much better but I still couldn't have anyone in right now. I would like the house to be better for myself but mainly for my three beautiful little granddaughters who I have for the weekend sometimes. We all deserve better - why can't I do it? Thanks for listening.

welcome sheepish! i just joined a few days ago. i have been reading flylady's e-mails/routines/etc., etc., but i never implement them !
something snapped when i saw the before and after pictures posted. somehow they gave me encouragement and i plan on tackling the mess this weekend (i need to buy a disposable camera so i can document my progress ! i have a digital camera that was last used in 2005, but i can't find the cords and stuff to download the totally full memory!!!
i was wondering if depression is part of the reason for squalor. i think i have been depressed a very long time - on meds now, but struggling.
hang in there sheepish ! the group will cheer you on.
have a wonderful weekend ! lulu

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I too am on meds for depression - can only imagine how bad things would be if I weren't. Flylady really does work if you follow it. I had the most organized & clean Christmas ever a few years ago when I followed the plan faithfully. Of course I wasn't working as many hours then. I hope that I can accomplish something worth reporting over the weekend & will check back on Monday. Thanks for being such an inspiring group.

Welcome, Sheepish. I followed Flylady years ago, but since I was so deep in squalor, it didn't help very much. I know it works great for some people, and just makes others want to scream! !
I'm glad that you found us. Check out the different areas, especially Listzilla. You will always find someone here to encourage you and help give you a nudge to keep you moving.

Welcome Sheepish!! Boy can I relate to the not having any pep!! I have found that just reading some of the posts here can inspire me to get up and do just one thing. Often, that one thing will lead to another and....well, you get the idea!! Glad you're here!

I work full-time & as a "mature" woman just don't have the pep I used to have - just want to crash when I get home & the weekends just never seem long enough. Me too. I find it very difficult to do much in the evenings and if, as last night, I go out for a social occasion after work, then I spend a lot of Saturday catching up on sleep and relaxing. I'm currently trying to motivate myself into some action. I'm sure you'll find much support and encouragement here. The thing that's helped me most is setting simple achievable tasks when I'm tired. Just doing one thing such as washing dishes, helps a lot and often i find I automatically move on to other tasks.

Welcome Sheepish. I struggle with fatigue, too. My job is very mentally taxing, stressful and full of long days. By the time I get home I am wiped out. By Saturday I want to just rest. The working in threes threads is very helpful to me. This place, the people, the understanding, the encouragement, and the suggestions has made such a huge difference in my mindset and now my house. I know it can be that way for you too.

Welcome, Sheepish !
"We all deserve better - why can't I do it? "
That, my friend, is the $64million question. If we could answer that once and for all, we could probably close up shop.
Meanwhile, we ask, and work to find out, and experiment until we find a way to overcome or get around our natural tendencies.
It's good to have you here.
