This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again..
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

HEYYYY, I am joining you all too. It's already 2:30, but I HAVE been busy. Perhaps we will be a small group, but plugging away little by little and getting things done. Done: Living room 1. Wiped window ledges. Dusted/washed all vases, knicknacks and furniture. 2. Watered plants. 3. Windexed mirror and glass tabletop. 4. Damp mopped wooden floor.
To Do: Vacuum living room area rug.
Done: Entranceway 1. Removed everything and wiped floor. 2. Cleaned boot rack and shook mat outside. 3. Put everything back into place.
Done: Kitchen 1. Emptied and cleaned out fridge (freezers are already done) 2. Wiped kitchen cupboard doors. 3. Washed dishes and put many items for recycling. 4. Cleaned microwave.
Miscellaneous: Made some sweet potatoes. Went through my house deed and documents. Shredded some very old receipts/bills. Phoned a few friends.
To Do: Oh SO VERY much. Monday is the first adoption inspection day. 1. Bathroom wipe down. 2. Tv room dust and vacuum. 3. Breezeway mini declutter and sweep. 4. Bedroom: change linen and URGH, put away clothes. Dust/vacuum. 5. OH MY = Dining room needs a big decluttering session. Probably about 2 hours of work, but perhaps I am over estimating. 6. Furnace room straightening out. 7. Kitchen table decluttering/put away
It sounds like a lot.....

Hello to all. Today is my only day off this week, so I did a few small things that add up. TADAS: 1. Got up, washed and dressed. 2. Took all meds/vites. 3. DSO and I went out for coffee and donuts. 4. Got a few things at the grocery store. 5. Paid phone and internet bill. 6. Caught up with email, as I had not been on line in days. (My screen had died. My son lent me an extra one that he had, thank God.) TODOS: 1. Laundry, if I can get going. You all are doing great. Keep up the good work. 3G

Thanks about the reminder about pacing. This should be a fun process... I want to enjoy the visit. The worker sounds really nice, and I know she has many years of experience.
I am glad to have more coworkers this afternoon.
Done: 1. Swept breezeway and outside part of side door. 2. Threw out three carpet runners and put a couple newer ones instead. 3. Removed some pots and items from breezeway.
To Do: 1. Wipe/dust shelf in breezeway. 2. Put pots into garage (boy I hope she doesn't go in there!) 3. Put a picture and the recycling bin in the breezeway.
***Stop procrastinating and start decluttering dining/bedroom!

Okay,
Back from my errands. Mellow, how exciting, anxiety-provoking for you to be getting ready for that home visit. Would they really look through the garage and furnace room? Good to see that threeg and iprocrastinate here, too.
TaDa's
Made deposit at bank (YAY! My monthly check is direct-deposited, so I never go to the bank anymore, and I tend to 'misplace checks.')
Trip to library
Ate (Splurged on a plate of nachos at the local Mexican dive, but figured it is less than 2% of my bank deposit. It can be my reward.)
To Do's: Go to store, buy an MP3 player. Pack up Lands' End clothing to return to Sears store. Drink some water.

Oh I always misplace cheques or money that is given to me. Especially gift certificates and gift cards. Blech.
And yes, they will probably look through the furnace room because they need to verify what source of heat I have and if it is working. Plus they need to see if I have smoke detectors and CO2 monitors.
As for the garage, I am crossing my fingers that it will not be visited. It is very very cluttered, and plus, has some pots of plants with dirt that have tipped a bit.. I am in no mood to freeze my bottom off cleaning in there right now.
The breezeway, I am happy to report is clean, and only took 20 minutes to dust, declutter, etc, so maybe I can diplomatically stop the visit at the breezeway door. Besides, it IS super cold right now, and who wants to go into a sub zero garage??
Done: 1. Upholstered two kitchen chairs. 2. Mopped part of the kitchen floor. 3. Straightened out laundry room and changed some lightbulbs (warm light rather than cold light... looks homier).
To Do: 1. 15 minutes in dining/bedroom 2. And then repeat. 3. And then repeat.
