H2H, I am really enjoying reading your explanations and thought process. You write with such vigor! I can imagine what a force of nature you have been in your life. And now, moving forward into a time in your life where your considerable gifts will be able to be focused in a concentrated way on your body, your peace of mind, housing stability, etc. I have no doubt at all that you will land firmly on both feet. Reading your post from a couple of days ago about the "inert" tile piles. With the excess stuff here at my place, I ended up prioritizing it in way that included stuff at the bottom of list, described as things that could be handled with a dumpster, burn pile, or bulldozer. Those things were off my to-do list.

Halfway---I cam emphasize with you on the things too big for you to lift or get out of the house----same here. In the attic, for many years, is a metal bed frame we bought that LOWERS the mattress & bed spring. I hated the looks of the low bed, but at the time , DH was having nightmares & once he threw himself out of bed & smashed his hand against dresser---much blood. It was part of his Parkinson's, I think. I thought it best to get a low rail so he wouldn't have so far to fall down if he ever went all the way down. We also later got a bedrail for his side of bed too. BUT---I can't lift that heavy steel low bed rail down from the attic.I was so afraid he'd break his hip. He did, but it was when we were leaving a lab office.I will donate the bed rail when I can get someone to help with it. catcat

Halfway--Yes, part of aging or disability. I have donated his rolling walker & side bedrail & one regular walker--he had two--but kept one regular walker, his transport chair, & bedside commode to lend out or in case I ever need them. I have already lent out most of these things, some twice. But I don't want to keep that heavy LOW bed rail so I am hoping to get my 2 handymen to move it down later in summer when they bring down full size bed & take away my old Queen sized one.I also have 2 pieces of exercise equipment in basement that I don't use anymore. Would like to give one to teen-age girl who cuts my lawn. Would like to sell Pilates machine; won't get near what we paid for it, but getting something would help with all the weird expenses that hit within a week. None of these things I could lift. I don't think I could, but anyhow it is best that I don't overtax my reverse total shoulder replacement. Haha--the BIONIC woman. It never bothers me, but I don't want to lift things that heavy. When were those golden years supposed to start ? I must have blinked. Actually, I have been blessed & am grateful for what has gone right. catcat

Hi H2H and catcat. Reading your posts above about heavy things, then also the physical challenges. I'm sorry catcat that things went so hard with DH. :hugs: halfway, I know you are working through all this a piece at a time and will come to your own conclusions. When I mentioned yesterday that I was ignoring things that dumpster, burn pile, and bulldozer could take care of, in my mind, those would be things that the next owner would deal with. So the idea of extracting those things that I can, both for keep and donate, etc. and leave the rest is where I have been headed. Very fortunately I don't have too much big heavy stuff anymore. Thank goodness. All that clean-up happened when I first moved in with Grandpa and I did have to hire a "Got Junk" sort of service for a few things. Anyway, you are certainly making continued progress in your thought process and action process too.
