Attachment DeletedIt's true! I've been doing anything and everything to lose a little weight (walking, going to the gym, finding new health food) and I have turned a blind eye to piles that form like stalagmites . I'm hitting my piles hard this week. I plan to take 1 hour this morning to eliminate a pile in my bedroom. It's a scary thing ...the first few items removed and my brain says" This has been here a while...why do you have to do this right now?" or " What if the items removed just get churned back in to the collective." The mind is a powerful thing.

Couldn't bring myself to jump right on the pile just yet. Used the "procrastination method" to my benefit by straightening, picking up, putting away, wiping surfaces a little ,putting away dishes from dish washer, gathering dirty clothes and picking up random trash. Fear will get your heart pumping, use your nervous energy to your advantage whilst procrastination is in progress. Attachment Deleted

I think that's how my mother operates. She thrives on procrastination. She rides the wave of last minute panic like a surfer, arriving on the beach with tasks done as done as they can be.

I'm being dead serious. It's just all too insurmountable and appears out of nowhere. I'm not sure how. I'm usually a very organized person in other ways but my hoards blindside me.

" What if the items removed just get churned back in to the collective." << oh my!!! hahahahahahaahhaah
yep...just trying to grit my teeth realize it ain't worth moving a thing until I goes to its FINAL place..why waste the energy?
I try and recall to " Never mistake a clear view for a short distance" and "Never move your wood twice"
too bad I often don't listen, and moving a pile or cleverly restacking it FEELs so good.

The only way to really make make progress *eek* I have realized is that I'm going to have to get rid of the bulk of things, even if they are good things. If they take up space and can't be used, I have to sell them or something, get rid of them.

Thanks for reading my ramblings closetofchaos and H2H This is what I came up with today. It is not my stuff so DH and I will spread out each category, try to reduce by a percentage (Half or more) and plan on where we will store this stuff. I hope DH will release most of this stuff. def6 hope I can post a similar closet pile story cause you inspired me.....I am back, alive, THANKS TO SOS wonderful members!!! Just reading here is getting me going.
Climbed out from DEEP DEEP storage in GBR closet at 5:30pm..whew..... I am feeling it is a miracle to jump in and attack those bins.
Got a motivation is why ..the lady who TOOK the Blue Jeans fabrics (hooray) I just casually asked if she could use or knew of takers for quilting, dress, fancy samples, misc decorative fabrics, clothing patterns, notions, 50 yards of new dress netting, anything I could think of to give away!!!
Turns out SHE is a head seamstress for the local repertory theater costumes, and she was jumping up and down!! I have found in those bins YARDS AND YARDS AND YARDS of new dress weight fabrics I bought a decade ago, just layered in all those bins..so excited to give to someone who will use, OR knows many sewing and charity groups who will take it!! ( I will take some pics of the amazing sample upholstery fabrics just to keep to remember ..they are good for costume collars, cuffs, pockets, odd ball uses for period style dress i.e. 14th century puffy shoulder details, hat decoration etc).
BEST part is I can DONATE that body bag of SILK clothing I know I will never use. She said they can cut down to fit, or use $$ fabrics from clothing donated. tomorrow am laundering some quilt fleece, digging thru buttons and zippers I will never use and tossing all into the MANY bags she will get!

Theatre companies are a great source for donation especially "vintage". DM donates to them all the time. Some of her aprons were used in various productions of Church Basement Ladies.
