This is the Working in Threes (W.I.T.) Thread
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before
The guidelines are simple: - Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
- Once you have 3 things done, post them here! - Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again. - You aren't required to do the 3 things you had planned on -- just get any 3 things done and then post proudly.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed,
or just need to break your tasks down into something manageable, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of: - Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash . . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE-DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta-Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To-Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those 3 to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Happy April Fool's Day Everyone!!!! This weekend I have to really pull out all the stop and get MORE done. I have set 4 goals for the weekend. Unfortanlly I know I will not get it all done to the extent that my mind thinks it will need to be done. But I have set the goals and hopefully I mental mind set will override my mind dreams and I will get the goals accomplished to a level of acceptability. Goals By Saturday evening all course work done before bed. By Sunday at afternoon 3:30 I want to have Lesson Plans done, Canvas Setup for the week, and class prep for Monday done so that when I get to school Monday am it will all be done. By Sunday evening at 7:30 the house will be maintained.
By Sunday 5:00 Blackberry Bushes I will have cleaned out around blueberry bushes and pruned them.My timer will be my best friend....since course work is my most important task to accomplish I will start working with a 15 min timer for course work, and then take breaks after 15 mins and tackle Blackberry Bush, Home Task or 5 min Lesson Plan task as brain breaks or frustration breaks. Plus I will need to go out and pick up DD, DS (DS and I need to have some quality time and hammer some things out, I need extra good luck for this) and I will go to the gym and grocery shopping and I wanted to go by a classmates place of business (she owns a antique store that is open only on the weekends.) and work together on up and coming course project. Lets see how many TODO's it takes to reach my goals this weekend. Wish me luck!!!! TADA 1 Cup of coffee Load to wash Store run Setup for the day TODO 2 Course 15 mins Quick task pick list -- Will try to pick 3 between 15 min coursework stints 1 Check Bill Sink 1 Swish & Swipe Blackberry Bush 10 minsOff to set my timer

Done: Raked over lawn to try and make mowing as easy as possible Mowed lawn Raked up cut grass and put it in green waste bin (these three sound so easy written like that, but it's taken me the bulk of the last couple of hours)
Did some weeding Try to cut overgrown bushes but my shears aren't tough enough Clipped vaguely at some privet - needs a proper hedge trimmer, I think
Watered the sunflowers I have outside (not sprouted yet) - I think they are getting too dry out there so I may bring them in to water more regularly until they sprout Clipped some defiant tufts of grass with my shears Put away everything that I had used
My poor lawn still looks a mess, but I feel like I'm making progress. It was so much easier to cut this time than last time. It looked almost uniform after I'd mowed, although when I rake I discovered patches that had been pushed down rather than mown. The bottom layer is pretty matted, but I'm hoping that if the moss killer works and that all dies back, that new grass growth will be able to come through.
To Do: Washing up Load of laundry Plant some seeds (I bought some tomatoes and other things to try to grow in containers - will probably not work well, but I'll give them a go)

Minerva, Yard work does take a lot of time and energy! RoadRunner, The last 4 or 5 classes that I've taken have been online, and one thing I find frustrating is that the instructors just copy and paste stuff from a previous semester without updating the content. Sometimes the information in the syllabus contradicts what they have in their introductory post. Some give assignments, but give very little feedback as to how you are doing, or take weeks to grade them. I have had a couple very good professors that took the time to participate and respond to our discussion posts, and I really found that helpful because they often offered a different perspective. Both of them gave very demanding assignments, and expected well written, well thought out answers. In the class I started 3 weeks ago, the professor doesn't participate or comment on our posts at all. In addition, my advisor has been my instructor for a couple of classes, and he is older and probably should be retired, but he responds to things sporadically, and then often not in complete sentences, where I have no idea what his point is. ta-da's: Slept in, got up, checked facebook etc, started new threads. Made and ate breakfast... Dishwasher is about ready to be started. Sipping on some tea to-do: Add a couple of items to the dishwasher and then start it. I have a huge pile of stuff in the laundry room that was washed, but never put away. The pile gets higher and higher. I need to sort it for at least an hour, but will break that down into smaller chunks of time. I need to do some major decluttering purging in my bedroom. I have boxes and bags of stuff that have been accumulating for years. My allergies have been bothering me at night and I think that is part of the problem. Also: After >24 hours of dreary rain, the sun is peeking through the clouds. I'd like to take a walk, and/or do some yard work Financial stuff. Taxes have been on my list for over a month. I need to get them done! School work: My midterm history exam will be posted tomorrow. I've completed about 1/3 of the study guide questions. See you all in about 45 minutes or so! (I'll try to get back! I promise)

Ally not all instructors can or should teach online classes that is for sure. My instructor is older the course is for AIG Certification (Academically Gifted and Talented) She is way to lenient which is a problem for a procrastinator like me, but I think she is so lenient because she knows that her online instruction is subpar. Frustrating!!!! I teach face to face but all my students content and course work is delivered through an online instructional management system, I am not very good at tooting my own horn but I am exceptional and setting up online instructional management systems, and I do train other teachers how to. I have tried to give her tips and suggestions (as she uses the management system that I used before what I am using now) but it falls on death ears. Anyway Onward..... TADA 5Course Work 15 min
I had to regroup again as I started working the the assignment I know there was some stuff that i had already done but. She does not have you upload all the pieces of an assignment to one online assignment she sprinkles them around. So I had to go and open submit assignments to see what I had done and what needed to be done. 1 Forum post (which I just did) and next I need to write a reflection. Quick task pick list -- Will try to pick 3 between 15 min coursework stints 1-Handwashed 1 pan hot soapy bleach water to sink2-Check bill3-Fold 20/Flip 4-Mail 10 Checked e-mail and handled Blackberry Bush 10 minsDownloaded EverynoteWent and picked up DD made a date with DS

ta-da's: Went into kitchen to finish loading and start dishwasher... there was still room for a few more items, so I went ahead and... started some pizza crust from the sourdough starter that I keep in my fridge. This has been an ongoing experiment that I started back in the fall. I haven't been extremely satisfied with it, but I think I have a better process now than what I started with. My starter isn't strong enough to really raise the dough all that much on it's own so I add additional yeast. Maybe I'm just too impatient. I've seen recipes where you are supposed to let it rise for 24 hours, but I get impatient after 4. Added utensils from working with sourdough to the dishwasher and started it.
to-do: Onward with previous list

Ally, I have only recently restarted forays into sourdough, but I kept a starter for several years in the past and baked with it often. The longer the rise, the better the flavour. I like that sourdough tends to be fairly hands off, so you can mix up a dough before bed, shape in the morning and bake for the evening meal. Provided I have things to do between steps (like sleeping, working, going out) then I find it easy to forget about it until I need to do something else with it. Done: Cut more fruit from one of the plants I recently bought from the supermarket. It's struggling a bit and I'm hoping this will help. Put a blanket that seems to be turning to dust on to wash. If this doesn't save it, I may have to throw it away. Reconstituted some more dehydrated compost (the only compost I can easily carry home with me) Planted two window-boxes with flowers Filled a big grow sack with compost and planted peas Planted tomato seeds Planted cucamelon seeds Planted strawberry seeds Tidied up gardening things and distributed plants to various window ledges To Do: Hang laundry Put away last few bits of shopping Wipe over sinks

I've been working on odds and ends: Folded some laundry and put it away started a bag of clothes to donate somewhere a few other things went into the rag pile
About 17 years ago I built an hatching incubator with DD for a science fair project, mostly out of stuff I had laying around. My dad had an old thermostat that we used. A few years ago I took it apart, because I wanted to rebuild it in a styrofoam cooler (I can get them for free from the pharmacy at work.)... but then Dsis asked to borrow it before I had rebuilt it. Dsis doesn't allow styrofoam in her house, so I lent her all my parts from the one I had ripped apart, and she rebuilt it, but when I got it back from her, it wasn't quite the way I wanted it, and I was also getting a "popping" sound when I plugged it in. It turns out that there is a short from two wires making contact with some an aluminum reflective surface. I fixed the things I didn't like and now I am testing it to check the temperature setting. I have 3 hens, but they are old and only lay eggs sporadically. I would like to hatch some chicks later this spring.
There is a lot more to-do. I thought it was supposed to be sunny here this afternoon, but after a brief, partial visit from the sun this morning, it clouded up again. I want to go out for a walk some time, I need to get the mail and the eggs, and check the chicken feed and water.
Also: School work Tidy up bedroom Lots more
