Well done Serendipity. You have done the brave courageous thing getting to the plug under the gross things, and dealing with them. A quick overview of the tiny habits video. chose an easy habit to make, one that doesn't have you avoid it like the plague. He gave the example. An aim to floss one tooth, then celebrate that you did that. Give yourself a cheer. Obviously there is a long term aim to floss more than one tooth, but its the start. The big thing is to encourage yourself when you do the action. He had the audience practice the celebratory action and noise/word/s. Like Mimi - he suggested tying a wanted habit to something you already do. Making a sequence of tasks can be helpful, (that's my long sequence above that I've built up over years.) His personal example about re getting stronger goal was - 'after he peed to do 5 pushups.' end quote. Then he upped the number after each loo visit till he is doing a 70odd daily. That was all those tally strokes - a visual celebration of his success. To summerise - Make new habit easypeasy. Tie it to something you already have no trouble doing. After I ...... I will ... .. ........ Celebrate every success at doing that tiny habit. I've made my check list for Feb too. There is a half page for wanted habits, a section for 4 'make a chain doing it daily for 4 things to focus on, and a page for things to do daily, or not. Just a record for my interest. Dec 31 - Jan 31 my longest chain was 10 days straight, so its obviously a work in progress. Perhaps I can beat that score this next month.

wynken, I want to thank you again for that video, and how it helped me. My own example is 'after I pee, I will wash 5 dishes and 5 pieces of cutlery'. That is after EVERY time I pee! Following this I had all of my dishes caught up by noon yesterday - something I had only done once in the past month I think. Then lunch and supper dishes got done right away too. When I went to bed I had 2 snack dishes in the sink that I left until morning - but what am improvement. My problem was that I'd put dishes in to soak - but never come back to them. Linking it up with going to the washroom reminded me to come back to them often, and made it successful. I hope I can remember to continue along this path.

Well Done hollyhock. That's great. After I take my dinner bowl to the kitchen, I will wash up. I made a line in Feb habit chart to get the washing up done by 10. Tonight I did that - practicing. After I wash up, I will dry up, put away dishes and shine sink. ok. That's not a tiny habit, but it is making concise what I've been attempting this past month. I'm hopeful that when I get this happening regularly I'll get to bed and lights out earlier. Hopefully to sleep. All this may take time. Then hopefully I'll be up to starting my day earlier, maybe looking at joining different things. Getting out and about more. As Serendipity knows, I'm not strictly a 6' person. Tonight clean up in K inc most often used counter, getting label off a bottle, shiny sink was 20 min (or so) I did probably 12 min on 2 Take5 (things and deal with them). from top of crest of drawers. 1st - spools of ribbons and cut ribbons are bagged, away in hall cupboard. 2nd - old timers and clock - tried to do the timers battery change and was unsuccessful. Tossed. clock now has a new battery and place in bathroom so I can watch the time getting away from me in there. there was something else and I forget.

Serendipity - wow for board games at a table!!!!!! If you would like, you could rename this thread (edit the 1st post), or we could let it go and start a new thread. If you don't mind, I'll tag along whatever you decide. I think I've read the explanations of magic square/star building as tasks are done. This year I'm hoping to get back to checking off multiple checklists. I won't bore you with their diversity. I've started in January, Feb pages happening now. I really want to be making more effort in more areas of my home and yard more consistantly. edit to add You can always just leave the thread as it is, and post however you like here. Whatever inspires you most.

I want to use Still's 0 degrees thread along with this one. So I can change it up abit to make it more interesting! Heading over to Mom's soon. Son is picking up spaghetti groceries. I think his girlfriend is coming to so that will be nice. We haven't had spaghetti for a long time. My favourite is the garlic toast!

SerendipityMy laundry is 'one of those areas' . the dice pointed me there today. I threw out 5 things. binned them, and got out of there as quickly as possible. didn't recycle/wash/save/count the time.

Hope you are going ok Serendipity. I've been keeping up with daily dishes and shiny sink. I've added the aim of by 10pm for dishes, as late at night I get a worser attitude thing happening. I haven't always got there, but some nights I make a sudden effort, like last night. Dinner eating was just finished and it was 1/4 to. I managed to move my butt and get there. Load of washing today. There is underwear to put away as well. Helper coming so I have things to prep for that.

Well done Serendipity I've caught up on washing with 2 loads x last couple of days. Sat outside this morning and saw another area that will be woefully overgrown if I don't do something about it. Finally looked again at blouse gift from DD. Now it is so creased from sitting in gift bag one month on. The colour? is what I'd wondered about, and still do. A loud kelly /emerald green, not one I'd chose to wear. I wondered about catching the train to the city to return it. Tried it on etc. I'm not sure if the can't be bothereds have me, but it looks like the case. I got changed again. Lay the blouse out on my bed hoping the fairies will sprinkle uncreasing magic on it while I'm not looking.
