Popping in with more cheers for wynken and Serendipity! And a question...Serendipity, you mentioned "provincial" low-income subsidy. Are you in Canada? I'm from Ontario. Don't answer that if you don't want to.
Speaking of washing dishes, DS announced last week that we should wash our dishes right after use. He's been doing that, for the most part, all this week, to my utter amazement. I've always been in the habit of rinsing my dishes after eating, rinsing so well in very hot water that they are pretty much clean then sitting them in the drainboard. Less-than-clean-enough dishes get stacked. I use only my favorite coffee cup, rinsed after each use. When a small pile of well-rinsed dishes does accumulate I'll fill the sink and do them. Another good habit I do have is washing pots/pans/measuring cups, etc. right after use if I'm cooking or baking anything. The dishes are not overwhelming for me this way and I can get away without doing a sinkful for about a week. (That sounds bad, but it only amounts to a few plates and glasses, some cutlery.) After that the cats start knocking them off the counter and breaking them, .
Great work on getting to the fridge drawer and shelf Serendipity, and WTG wynken on your streak! I'll be doing my sinkful of dishes tomorrow.

day 12 dishes done
confusion re time then later, place confusion today. Hating that. The day was what it was.
washing came in. some is away didn't walk. but did go finally to water views to sit a while earlier.
got 3 phone numbers of folk to talk to. hopeful for listening ears. a chance for friendship. perhaps. I need the courage to reach out though. Said no to offer to sit at registration desk of one's interest group, for now. Perhaps when getting out to places is a little easier.

Thank you for the cheer along mynicehome. Agreeing with the theory in washing up daily. I've had trouble in the getting there and keeping it up, without getting myself in a tangle for quite some time. At one time I was totally enthusiastic about it, daily doing it right down to the shiny sink thing, for maybe a couple of years, then lost the plot. Its day 12 quietly sneaking up on it. Don't rock the boat. Its easily rocked and I fall out it would seem.

Serendipity Great to see you posting. great to wash up to use a dish at your place. A good example of not adding to the problem. Near the front door sounds like a good spot for the ant bait. How long to make a habit? How long is a piece of string? I think it depends. (I've read variations of the how long thing.) It still takes a really conscious effort to get them done so I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm at the stage where I don't want to lose it and go back to walking into the kitchen and everything seems like too much effort so I don't do anything again. Getting a meal cobbled together can seem like too much effort. On the other hand I am starting to think I need an alternate spot for the bowl and tub I was putting the dishes and pots etc into so that I could get started. FL originally suggested one new habit a month. At least, that is how she originally started remaking herself with the shiny sink thing, but that was after she had done a heap of work getting to the finally loving yourself enough stage. Admitting. I fell out of the FL admiration segment when I dropped that ball, and have vectored in washing up (dishes etc) on a daily basis. at least getting some done daily was a start for that. Fogg of tinyhabits.com/ suggest making the littlest starts to change. Your wash one dish or whatever method would fit right in there. The things some people do at university! Maybe I'll think of what my next focus will be when I think I have this habit settled, but don't want to rock this boat too much justyet. Trying the don't let things get worst (too much ) method. And sometimes trying on a tiny different action. To see if it seems helpful.
