I need to join you faithful scoopers to keep a handle on the litter boxes. I hope you don't mind the company. Just coming out of a 3 year depression and I'm sure it's been 3,4,or 5 months since I cleaned the litter. But I am happy today to say I have cleaned 90% of the litter mess. I will do the rest when I get my water back. The plumber is coming later this afternoon. We've been without water six days. Things are starting to emit their own unique fragrance!

Thank you Unswamping for the encouragement. Now I'm going to follow your good example and take the bags of dirty litter out to the front yard. Where I live there are no back alleys and trash is placed next to the curb the night before pick up day. So I've got that dirty litter sitting in my front entry and it is a little too fragrant. Even though it's too early to move to the curb it has got to go. And then on to today's litter box upkeep!

Prettybad great job! I truly hope you have water by now. I understand how it is to be without.
I have scooped yesterday (I think) and am brining the vacuum upstairs to vacuum around boxes. Go hide kitties! They hate the vacuum!

Hi momof3boys and unswamping, I have a very good feeling about this thread. After reading the recent posts I went downstairs and scooped without the procrastination and excuses! I am totally amazed. Has this ever happened before? I can't recall but thank you, thank you and thank you! And yes my water is back and now my house no longer smells like an outhouse. Good news all around.

Ok, the deed is done. Missed scooping yesterday so there were more kitty treasures than expected. Feeling so tired I think I need a coffee to keep me going. Hi to unswamping and momofthreeboys.

Hi momof3, I could swear that I posted yesterday but my reply has disappeared so well done on that scooping. I also need to wash out a litter box and that's remaining 10%.
on a musical note,
"Summertime and the scooping is easy"
Scooping done.

momof3boys great job on scooping and vacuuming! I hope you can find a litter that works well. I read once that the urine starts to break down in about 24 hours and thats when the ammonia gets released and the smell starts. After reading that, it made it easier for me to be more consistent about doing it daily.
prettybad im so glad your water is back, that makes life so much easier and less smelly. Im glad this thread is helping you on the procrasination. I like that little summertime ditty, i will be hummimg it in a bit when i scoop mine. I did mine yesterday and washed two pans out. Just wondering. I dont have a back alley eith and my cans go to the curb the night before. I bought a small metal trash can with a tight fitting lids (we have alot of critters here). I put it in an inconspicious spot near the stairs, not visible from the street. Food trash and cat litter goes in there during the week. Then trash night, i top off the black trash bag and put it in big can to wheel to curb. Maybe you could get a small one and hide it near your entry. The tight lid helps with odor control and this way you could get it out of the house every day. It helps me get the litter changed when i know its going out and will not be stinky up inside the house.
