Ohblondie, I'm glad you have the day off--I hope you can get tons done today!
Chris--that's fantastic news about Willy! It means that someone does NOT consider him a pet--when they clip the ears, they are telling future people who see him outside that he's already neutered and no one else has to trap and neuter him. Usually people who have pets that they let outside do not clip the ears, they don't think there's any need. And if someone brought him into a shelter to neuter and said they were keeping him, they wouldn't have clipped the ear--they must have said they were trap/neuter/releasing him. So--he needs a home. And--now you will not have the expense of neutering! I did wonder how he would react to the fence building activity.
I'm just about ready to go to work, morning routine is done and I was able to finish my BR closet straightening (that was the 3rd project I forgot yesterday) in about 10 minutes so it really wasn't that big of a project.
See you all later!
Diane

Good morning everypony!
IKWYM, Diane. There is something about a stretch of time that really makes a difference in terms of my sense of freedom, which then increases my motivation. I wish I could give myself that same sense when I didn't have something scheuled in the afternoon/evening.
It's already 11:00 am! I feel like I've been frittering on Important but not Urgent. Ugh. The good news is both DXH and I went grocery shopping yesterday, and I cooked ahead last night, so at least I have food in the house. But it's past my breakfast time! I think I'll go make a smoothie, and come back to this.

Chris maybe messymimi can confirm but I think when their ear is notched that means they are TNR (trap neuter release) so most likely done by a rescue group. Our new BP (black panther) has a notched ear. Most likely Willy is still yours if you want him They just saved you some bucks and if you can locate the group that works in your area - you may find out if he has had any injections like rabies as well. Hope someone weighs in that knows more about the typical procedures. Opps - I see Diane already did

ear clipped means homeless, trap neuter release. it is a global sign for that and it's not possible that it means he has a home and is indoor-outdoor.
edit: he would definitely have been vaccinated against rabies.
edit 2: why dont you try to find the volunteers? a chat with them about it might feel great.

Wow! Willy is one lucky kitty with so many humans looking out for him!
I made my smoothie, one urgent thing done.
Looked at my schedule, looked at the map, and figured out some options for today/tomorrow.
Then I looked up the documents I needed to renew my Drivers Liscense. And got totally triggered!!! On so many levels. First, I have lost my new passport. Fear that I tossed it when I moved. Second, I don't know where my other paperwork is. I *might* have it with me. Third... is political, so I won't say more. Fourth, should I even start this when I have a plane to catch on Monday?
Yikes, I need to calm down! Deeeeep Breeaaths. One step at a time.

Chris, sounds like everything is coming together for you and Willy! Well, I didn't get anything done that was on my list for yesterday. This morning I helped DH with snow shoveling, and called off the lunch out with my mother. Surprisingly, my mom's friend said she was willing to venture out this time, but I didn't think we could get our driveway cleared, and me showered and dressed, in time. Plus the restaurant said their lot had a lot of slush; it might not have been easy getting my mom in with her walker. Those of you who have been snow shoveling all along this year, . I haven't tried it up until this storm because I just didn't feel up to it, or there was too much else that needed doing that only I could do. My muscles are quivering! Hopefully next year I'll be in better shape and able to do more. DH isn't getting any younger. The main things on my mind right now are getting a shower (Done), and getting out to the produce store. (Done) I don't go there often because they're expensive, but it's very close and all we need is lettuce. Other than that I want to deal with clothes, pulling things to donate, trying on some new stuff that arrived, (Done) and hanging up some things recently purchased. See you later!

Okay! I took 1/3 of a chill pill and fell asleep. I guess I am relaxed now!
Have fun trying on your new clothes, DustyD! I'm going to be doing that too, I just wish it was a bit warmer today. My room is especially cold, without the carpets.
NEXT UP: start timesheet make lists check weather in CA make packing lists transfer clothing onto big rack bring up little rack
let the clothing capsulizing begin!!!

What a sweet thing to say, scholar!
I'm home already from mid-day work, a short session today. I'm going do a little work before lunch, since I often get carried away reading and I'm determined to get an hour's work done before eating.

Oh my gosh -- I just called 2 local shelter organizations and both said the same thing you all told me here -- he is not a pet if they clipped his ear. Oh I hope he comes back tonight. I was heartbroken thinking that someone does own him -- I don't know why I am not thinking straight -- I never even thought that the ear clipping was a signal he's NOT a pet. He was sweet as pie this morning and I sat with him a long time. He followed me all over the yard. He wanted to come inside. I was thinking I couldn't feed him anymore if he has a home & family. But my neighbor that knows EVERYONE has told me ---- "he is nobody's cat". This is very exciting. The biggest barrier now will be he will want to go in and out. How to keep him safe. The flea meds are in the mail already -- I had ordered more than enough for Marble so that I could use it on Willy too. Dang. My husband again said it was up to me. There's really no decision now except to find him & bring him in. I hope he shows up this evening -- I will go out there and spend a lot of time outside this evening and hope he comes back. I have not seen the rest of his crew either. I wonder if they did a large scale round up. There were 2 other boys and a girl cat roaming around.
DONE: * letter to mom written * started new crochet project * helped DH with yard work * called 2 shelters

Hi puppy, are your walk times flexible?
Chris, it's not totally impossible to find a cat with a clipped ear that is a pet--clipped ear cats sometimes end up in shelters and you can't "unclip" the ear, so if someone adopts one and then lets the cat go in and out it can look like a stray. However, since Willy did not have a clipped ear until someone clipped it a couple of days ago, he was designated a stray a couple of days ago--that would be good enough for me!
Make sure that you have everything ready for him inside before you take him in though, because the more you let him in and out the more he will think that's normal. Once you have everything set up for him, keep him in even if he seems freaked out by being kept inside--he will calm down. He knows you now, and if there's food, he'll settle down. Give him something to hide in if he wants, like an enclosed cat bed or a cardboard box with a door cut out. Also, once he starts calming down, if you have a wand toy to play with, it's a good way to distract him from wanting to go outside. You might also want to have an extra smelly treat ready, like tuna or sardines or lunchmeat--something that he can't resist. Just don't give in and let him back outside, you'll be rewarding his trying to get out and next time he'll just redouble his efforts!
It's good that he was taken in for the surgery, that exposed him to some new people and being in a carrier, the more things he'll be exposed to the less he'll be upset at new things. I hope he shows up tonight!
I'm now going to have a vegetarian bacon sandwich for lunch! And take a reading break.

mylittlescholar I'm trying to put a clothing capsule together, too. Based on navy, for spring, in my new smaller sizes. I'm so tired of black and gray, which was the basis of my winter capsule, such as it was. I have to return one item. I've never returned to Belk before; it doesn't look like you need to do anything online before sending it back. I guess I'll pack it up and get it out in the mail today. Otherwise it may never get done! (They don't have any stores in my area.)
