I totally agree. Even here sometimes I don't think we report our worst stuff lest we fear judgement. That's just human nature, and a 'fear', not reality.
Tomorrow is trash pick up day and I filled the trash can, and part of the recycling can (not tomorrow pick-up).
8 small to medium bags regular trash 4 of recycling 1 batch emails deleted. ----------------- 13 new + 52 previous = 65 bags
There is room for another bag or maybe two in the trash. I'll have to look for more later. I should 'harvest' from the garage, but it's too chilly in there right now.

If something is gotten rid of but replaced by a more functional version (ex: a couch in poor shape taken out and replaced with a couch in good shape), does it count?

absolutely, PerrinJade ! because think of the alternative! (not tossing it) or the other alternative! (not getting a new one)

I say yes too, PerrinJadeNot everyone would get rid of the old one Plus you can create any rules you want for these challenges. I am still over in 2018 . I do not include daily living stufff in mine, so for example, I would not count an empty cereal box because we ate up the cereal. That is daily living. But I would count an empty shoebox if it had been hanging around in my closet for months. Because that is clutter. Prob would only make sense to me

Whatever is progress to a better living environment counts.

1 pair of good pantyhose, except for the way it’s made: two legs sewn together, no room for anything else.

Lost count but I think I can safely say replacing my kitchen with a new functional aesthetically pleasing one would count for a bunch of stuff. ! I am enjoying selectively putting things back and deciding not only where but if I should keep something. I don't want trash in such a beautiful place!

Okay, I'm back in for another year... I'm going to keep my 2018 tally and "grow" on that. 2018 final tally = 359 items 2019 start tally = 359 items And away I go!!! Good luck everyone! PerrinJade, most of the items I list I will not be replacing but there are a few I will be (underwear, bras, etc.) It counts in my books too to list a item that is leaving even if it will be replaced with another. In areas that I am trying to thin out, such as books, or towels, or knickknacks, I may bring another in, but overall the number keeps dropping. Keep up the good work!
