House is completely out of control, just me, hubby, and a few cats.
Went through a couple of bouts of severe depression back to back, house was already not helping, and when I finally could function for more than just dragging myself to and from my part time job, house had taken over. Complete entropy.
Where do I begin?

Hi tiggy, the best thing to remember now is that you shouldn't look at the whole picture--it's just overwhelming and it'll feel like you'll never be able to clean up. Baby steps is the way to think of it--just pick one task or one small area at a time.
Maybe try to tackle the worst problem first--is it garbage? Are the cats not using the litter box all the time? Do you have maintenance issues that you haven't addressed because you don't want repair people in? Maybe you can tell us more about the issues and we can give more specific suggestions.
It helps so much to post here on a regular basis--we have working threads, challenges, and you can start your own blog or threads to report progress. There are a lot of people who can relate to your post, so you will get a lot of suggestions and support if you keep posting.

Welcome aboard! Is your DH willing to help? If so then that's half your battle.
what is the most overwhelming?
Garbage? Pick up a bag and fill it with trash and toss it. then repeat, fill up a bag and toss it. Repeat as long as you can or until the trasjis gone.
Dishes? Wash a sinkful, put them away and wash another sink full. Repeat.
Clothes? Toss in a load or gather them all up and make a trip to the laundramat. with as many as you can pack in your car, drag in a duffle on the bus or that you have quarters for.
THe important thing is to do something. then rest, then do something else.
check in here - we will be cheering you on!

DH is very willing to help, just needs guidance from me because he's as frustrated/overwhelmed as I am.
Can't get anyone in to repair dishwasher because of the mess.
But I'm doing a decent job with washing them - making a pretty good size dent a couple of times a week - and letting them dry in totes.
As they get clean, I'm storing the pans and containers I don't need in cabinets away from my kitchen work area (galley kitchens are the devil when it comes to no storage).
Garbage/general crap - tons of it that needs to go.
Floors need help because I've not mopped in so long there's sticky stuff EVERYWHERE.
Cats have learned some bad habits, but as we're more consistent with changing the boxes, they're better; not sure how to break the spraying, though. Everyone's been fixed, but a couple of my boys are just RUDE.
Roof and foundation need to be assessed at some point, but I'm prioritizing the indoor living area first.
How do you start a blog?
Thanks in advance for help/support.

Tiggy, on the home page of the site, in the "Members Only" part down a ways on the page, is a Blogs section. Just start a new thread there and put as much or as little information in it as you want.

Hi Tiggy,
I usually start with Trash. Just getting the trash out the door. Then getting the laundry picked up sorted - ready for laundry cycles. Do the same for dishes.
I am in the same boat right now. I had house semi under control and then got really sick while at the same time i was trying to have house worked on and two surgeries and a couple of life catastrophes later plus my house helper not being able to help since end of 2021 (around the same time I got really sick). Has just set me back. It is easy to be depressed.
I am still having house worked on and they need stuff constantly moved around so it is like living in a blender.
My goal this week is to get my kitchen in working order, declutter, and just do some cleaning in areas so that they untidy but not a disaster.
I will be over in the weekend work along - you are welcome to join.

Welcome tiggy! You can just go to blogs and start one. Or you can email an admin and ask if this thread can be moved to blog section. Hope you are having a good day and getting some trash out!
